Sounds a bit high if you are doing mostly country driving. But then again, a lot of people on here are doing 12+ with city/suburban driving.

Good point.

I use Shell V-Power 98 octane and around town with traffic I am averaging 10.5L/100km. I drive in a reasonably spirited fashion

I have the N54 though if that makes any difference.

Jesus... I can't get below 11.5 on the 125i now... I hardly drive it at the moment so when I do it's usually a weekend evening, and therefore with spirit.

I use a range of fuels, mostly BP Ultimate and Caltex 98 and don't notice any difference. I'm averaging 10.1 at the moment with some city but majority suburban. Never been above 10.5, usually averaging high 9's.

Try either Mobil 8000 or Caltex Vortex 98. I wouldn't suggest it will probably work as it's a near-new car, but try with a bottle of Wynn's injector cleaner.

Check tyre pressures as well.

Biggest culprits are usually tyres, fuel and weight in the car.

Interesting - I never have and never will use Shell V Power 98. It stinks on my fuel economy constantly. I tend to stick to Vortex 98

May have something to do with turbo vs na?

But out of 10 refuels, maybe 5 are BP, 4 Vortex and 1 Shell.

Oh and no offense, but if you're doing 11.5 with the 125i, then you're fuel consumption kind of stinks anyway.

10.6L average from calculating from the exact same pump every week - not reading it off the trip computer gauge. Vortex 98, mixed suburban and extra-urban driving.

Driving on the unrestricted autobahns I normally average anywhere from 11 to 12 liters/100kph. IF I drive really fast over 200 kph I can average 14L to 17L's.

The slower you drive the less fuel you will use.

I have found that IF you can driver under 130 kph you will see 10L's/100kph. Drive under 100 kph and you can get under 9L's. When I drive the back roads around 80kph I can see 7 ot 8L''s/100kph.

Just put the BC on the instanenous fuel consumption and drive slow - and use the cruise control. But for me... with unrestricted autobahn speed limits... I find it very hard to drive slowly. When you drive this cars top speed the car uses over 40L's/100kph. So it is all just how fast you drive.

From the gearing on our 135i's, the most fuel efficient speed would be around 70kph.

So just out of interest...

I've always V-Power in my cars and have been doing so in the 135... I'm getting a bit if a negative vibe from you guys on V-Power...

What does everyone here use?

I can't tell the difference... as mentioned I use a mixture of BP, Shell and Caltex. There's so many conflicing advice and opinions on fuel that unless you do a lab test yourself you'd never know which really is best!

I use petrol, 98 RON. There is no difference in fuel consumption for the various brands of 98. Anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is kidding themselves.

Vortex on BP. Could be coincidence but long crank started after a Shell fill, and died after a Shell fill.

I am getting 9.9 to 10.0. However, I am on non-runflats with manual. My wife's 125i never falls below 10.1 and hers got RFT and auto.

I always use SuperPlus (98 octane) from Esso - since that is the only gas we can buy tax free in Germany (via the Military).

But a few times I have used Shell V-Power (102 octane) or Aral's Ultimate 102 oactane as well. The only thing I notice - is the engine sounds "different" and feels smoother when you get on it (WOT) in gear. I think that is because the DME is running more ignition advance. ?

I use ron 98. I get about 10.7. And sometimes below. I do a mix of highway and city driving. I say 50/50. I used to use lower ron petrol (e10 and 95) and it was higher. You should give it a go and see what you get.
