Personalised Plates

One of my customers just told me that a Learner's backed into my car and didn't left a note - the only damage I can see is on my personalised plates - which is now deformed.

Had a quick look on the ppq website and you can't replace just the front plates?!?

Anyhow, it is only 250, but 250 that I didn't have to spend.

Just a little rant....

That sucks Sparoz. Wish people had some common courtesy sometimes. At least there is some consolation in that it could have been far far worse.

Pretty sure you can replace just one plate, I have done it before... Maybe you can't on the prestige ones that you have?

Just noticed there is some damage behind the plates - where the plate has pressed into the front bumper. Would you guys get the number and have it fix? Just kind of a bit annoying to have it done.... I mean it is likely to cause me time/effort/inconvenience, and they probably can't match colour properly.

I had a damaged front slimline and when I called they said I had to buy both, but it was only about $50. That was only about three months ago so might still be the case.

Might be worth while to give them a call - online is $250 for both front and back for the prestige.

We had to replace personalised plates recently; it didn't cost that much and yes, we had to get both plates - they won't reissue just one.

Might go with the Flexi plates when I replaced them - but that cost $400!!! what a rip off - just because I got a prestige plate..

Personally, if you can't see the damage behind the plate then I wouldn't bother, who cares.

Also, if your customer saw them hit your car, why didn' they stop them, or at the VERY minimum take down their number plate?

People really are tards sometimes. If I ever see an accident no matter if it's obvious or i'm 10 cars back and still see it I stop and give both drivers my details as a witness.

You could always just get a sticker made up.. I ran a sticker numberplate for about 8 months and never had any issues with it. Mark has been running one for even longer now and had no issues either

They also don't light up in the dark when a flash goes off, so you could almost call it an investment

She did write down the number; just didn't tell me until I walked pass her house a few days later - which makes it no use. I pretty much been going home late last week, so didn't see the damage at all - not that obvious so wouldn't notice until you see it.

So, anyway, can't really see the damage, new car is coming in August - so I probably won't bother. Will get some new plates with the new car.

It's not useless at all mate, you've got the ability to start a no-fault claim right there. You can get your plates and damage repaired at no $ cost to you. That's what your insurance is there for after all.

Go for it I say!

Sorry to hear mate.

Chase it down. You have a witness and the number plate of the offender.

Go get some shiny new plates for free!

similar thing happened to me about half a year ago.
Was at vic market parked on the side of the street, and the only space infront of me was "no standing".
came back from eating a bratwurst to see my front plate deformed and a little rust spot in the middle (obviously from whatever hit it ?tow ball). luckily, i managed to bend the plate back and the damage isnt too obvious, and even luckier no damage was done to the bumper.
friggin annoying though, made worse by the fact that it was no standing infront of my car.
ar well, anyway, good luck with sorting yours out sparoz.
