Darker eyelid/eyebrow for LCI headlights - paint, wrap, cover or what?
Darker eyelid/eyebrow for LCI headlights - paint, wrap, cover or what?
I've been slowly blacking out my 2012 135i, removing the last chrome and light-colored parts (e.g. kidney grilles, side markers, rims). I have the Xenon headlights and I really like the eyebrow LED detail. But the more dark parts I add to the car, the more the white headlight eyelid looks out of place. I would like to tint it darker, as I have mocked up on the photo with the right headlight, but I don't want to cover the LED eyebrow. I've combed through the forum to see what might work best for me. 1. Solid eyelid cover (won't work, covers LED eyebrow) 2. Painting headlight (should be painted from the inside, so requires disassembling/ungluing the headlight - a lot of work) 3. Vinyl sticker or wrap (seems the most promising path. Some people have custom-made their own but I have not been able to find an existing product I could buy). So, my questions are: 1. What did you do to your e82 to tint the eyelid, and are you happy with how it turned out? 2. Are there other approaches I'm not considering? 3. Does anyone sell vinyl eyelid covers with a window cutout for the LED? Thanks in advance. I love this forum! Last edited by Kootenay135i; 07-28-2021 at 05:23 PM.. |

I'm not sure if this guy is still active, but I think I saw these listed on eBay not long ago:
