Question RD vs. WeissLicht

i know there are a few threads on what LED angels are the best but i wanted to know what you guys (especially you guys running these brands and not too much from the vendors) think is the best since i've pretty much narrowed my selection to these 2.

Well we replaced the RD with WeissLicht on our E92 and decided to start carrying it place of that brand. Here are some comparisons to show you. I don't have shots on a 1er yet, no time to install

WeissLicht on right, RD on left.

WeissLicht on left, RD on right.

Read carefully, on the 6er, the WL is on the LEFT side of the photo. On the E92, the WL is on the RIGHT side of the photo

It's the nature of the LED and factory fiber optics. There is a tradeoff between brightness and color, you can get brightness with a hyperwhite bulb but not as clean of a color as an LED setup. HID is an option but those tend to be too bright for the housings

yeah i got that, but the WL's looked a little dimmer compared to the RD's but looking again it's only the inner that looks brighter and the outer looks wayyy dimmer than the WL's.

Right, that's the issue with the RD. The color is an aqua blue and the inner ring is lit well, the outer ring is terrible.

Plug and play installation, the hardest part is removing and reinstalling the plastic covers on the back of the headlight. Other than that, it's a simple bulb replacement.

Thats not too bad, I'm considering those because the ones that EAS is developing is taking forreevvveerrrr... I also like the look of the Brex, but these WL look good too.. I want something that is White that matches the Xenons.

Yeah, I dont like how the outer ring int lit either... I had the EFX. I didnt have any codes, but the outer ring wasnt lit up very much, and you couldnt really see them during the day, so i switched to stock.. plus they were closer to blue than white.. i want something that is more white and lit up during the day

DTEC's are rated at 8Watts, and have "four" LED's. mostly LED's on the market only have "two" LED's. Pure White only. 6500k

The problem here is not the number or power of the LEDs, it's a matter of angle and directing the light. The problem with the RDs is that they did not line up properly with the fiber optics, it was more than powerful enough for the inner ring but the light did not disperse fully into the outer ring. This design allows you to adjust the angle to get it just right.
