N52 128i- Slow starting, stalled, multiple errors- any ideas?
I've been looking everywhere for anyone who had similar problems with no success, decided to post here before I go to the shop to get some idea of what could be going wrong. Vehicle is an '08 128i coupe.
Problems started 2 days ago- I was sitting at a red light when the car turned itself off. There was no gradual change in RPM, it was just like I had pressed the engine off button. Restarted, car acted normal on the way home, took it for a 1-hour drive with no issues later in the day. Yesterday morning, starting sounded a little weak (cabin lights dimmed more than usual but nothing extreme), drove fine after that. Yesterday afternoon was when it really started to act up- took almost 5 seconds of cranking to turn over, then threw DSC and brake warning lights when it finally started. Codes were CC-ID 24 (DBC assist), CC-ID 354 (start assist), CC-ID 35 (DSC failure) and CC-ID 419 (drive malfunction). Turned it off and on again after a short drive, all codes went away, drove normally for the rest of the day. This morning it did the exact same thing, codes and all. I already had the battery tested, the shop I took it to said it was good. I'm completely baffled at this point- think it could be the alternator but if that tests normal I'll be SOL. Anyone know what could be causing this? |
