It's for the factory intake box.

Socket AND screwdriver. It took me forever, the lip of the intake doesn't "mold" to the throttle body's lip. The TB has a notch that the intake doesn't fit over properly - it's annoying.

That sucks.

Did anyone ever hear anymore from the guy on e90 post trying to make a smooth intake elbow?

Hey y'all, I'm about to pull the trigger on an injen short ram intake, just wondering how hard the install is and if I need a shop to do it. Also is this an oiled air filter and if so how bad is the maintenance? Thanks

I have this intake and did the install myself; it’s really pretty straightforward and it came with good instructions. Even if you have never done an intake install, I’d say this is still very doable. Mine is a dry filter so no maintenance.

I just cut a large hole in the airbox cover and am using a K&N panel with the charcoal filter removed.

Have a spare so I can swap it out.

I have been monitoring air intake temp vs ambient using Torque Pro.

Ramps right up if you are stopped. As soon as you move it drops down to 3-5 degrees over ambient.

Sound is good...no drone.

No issue with rain at all.

May experiment with baffling to reduce underhood temps but since I don't drag race I don't really care.

Butt dyno likes it.....

Ears like it.....

Wallet likes it.....

why anyone gets these thing for a negligible performance difference is beyond me.. for 400 bucks you might as well do a 3IM swap or at least a tune

if you decide to do this, oiled will up the chances of getting MAF issues in the future which is one of the reasons as to why I didn't do this... paper/dry for me was the way to go

your mileage may vary (no pun intended)
