Suspension setup- camber plate
I just purchased a 2012 135 M sport that had the Performance suspension added with the M3 front sway bar.
I know that for the track i'll need more negative camber than what limit currently is. Instead of getting the M3 control arms, couldn't I just get the Dinan camber plates which would get me close to -1.7 or a little more Negative camber? Trying to build this right, and I really am impressed with the Performance suspension. Last edited by BoostedBarrett; 01-04-2018 at 04:41 PM.. |

I did the Dinan Camber Plates and have -2.2 in the front now. If I start chewing up the outside edge of tires next HPDE season, I'll add the M3 bits.

The Dinan camber plates reuse the stock upper strut mounts which have a lot of elastomeric slop in them. Sort of defeats the added camber in a way. I ran the Performance suspension without and then with Vorshlag camber plates and they made a big difference in steering responsiveness. They also allow you to adjust caster to full positive for the fastest dynamic camber to help more with turn-in than just a bit of added camber alone.
The M3 front control arms will help make the steering yet a bit more responsive owing to a spherical ball joint being used instead of a bushing in the wishbone and a stiffer bushing in the tension arm. Various manufacturers make sealed spherical bearings for the tension arm so you can get rid of all the slop in the steering with little increase in NVH. Not the cheapest solution but it is the right way to build the front end.

Go with adjustable camber plates if you plan on tracking and street driving the car... I went Dinan plates + m3 arms to start and was destroying tires from camber wear.
Plus you don't get the solid pillow ball mounts with the Dinan part.
