New 135 on the way

I just ordered a 2010 135 and its on the boat to my dealer. I wanted a 2010 with the N54 engine so I was forced to take one that wasnt spec'd out by me. A couple of differences I can live with bit I had to get a car without Premium Sound. I'm none to happy about it but I had to jump on this particular car. No more 2010's coming to this country.

What are some good options out there for upgrading the system? Will it be doable to have the new 2011 H/K Premium installed or not? Any advice welcomed, Thanks

No retrofit of H/K, at least by a dealer.

Two possible upgrade options:

- aftermarket - example http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=339041
- OEM - attached below (not sold in the USA yet, but $549.95 from eBay seller RoverActive)

Congrats on the new 1-er NYC6.

I just want to mention that I've had my 135i with premium sound for 9 months now, and I still can't get the sound right. I would much rather start like you
did with the basic stereo and customize the sound to taste.

Mineo77 has a great thread -> here.

I'd also ask for peoples' recommendations on car audio shops in your area who have experience with the 1-series. See if you can schedule a listen session to a car that they've done. And/or hook up with some 1-Addicts and check out their systems.

Good luck bro.

i have put probably too much time in my car audio, but i am a perfectionist. I have been extremely pleased with my audio system. My upgrades:

Morel 4" dotech comps
Morel ADWM 9 underseat
JL Audio 10W3
3SIXTY.1 processor

I have 2 precision power pcx-280's from my old car i am currently using. I will be upgrading to a 4 channel amp for the fronts this spring.

choose your amps wisely, there are definitely some good and bad selections out there. I wouldnt try to save your money on a cheap amp. You will need a processor if you have a std radio cause the HU levels are not flat and you will need to make them flat. there are many options to the processor out there. i like the RF 3SIXTY series cause it has bluetooth capablities and an EQ to tune and time your system as well as leveling out the output signal from the HU.

Lastly is the gong issue (door open, alert thing). With an amplified system, obvisouly the gong will be amplified. But do not fret, we (Ken, VP Electricity) and I are working on this and have some options to fix it. I will update my thread when we fix it.

A word of advice...make sure you go to an experienced BMW car audio installer. The 2010's with std radio are not the same as the 3 series many installer claim expertice. Please feel free to PM me with any questions, i can also put you in touch with VP Electricity who has a tremendous amount of knowledge on our cars.

If you read the threads, i would tend only to follow Technic and VP electricity post since these guys actually know what they are talking about.

good luck!

I been busy with looking for and finalizing the new car deal and just got back to this thread. Some real good info there, I'll live with the car for a while and then decide which way to go. I had a nightmare doing my Vette system 2 years ago and it drove me crazy trying to get it right. thanks for all the advice and when Im ready to move on a system I will contact you. Dennis
