FMIC mount cracked

so the huge plastic piece (the one you have to shave for some FMIC's) cracked, and my FMIC is now hanging diagonal. this is mostly because my car is lowered and i bottomed out one too many times..

i don't want to get the mounting piece replaced because it would be around 1600+ with labor to get it fixed, and it will probably just happen again...

are there any after market brackets to help reinforce the heavy aftermarket FMIC? i remember seeing ones that hook to the away bars and could be welded on to the FMIC, would that be good enough?

if i were to get a mount reinforcement fabricated, does anyone have any good ideas on how to do it?

thanks!

which piece is cracked?

pics?

pretty sure the front reo bar is only a couple hundred$ from ECS.

otherwise for custom reinforcement.. also couple hundred$ from a fabrication workshop, you'd just have to tell them what to do, and they would likely be able to make up a bar for it all to bolt to.

thanks i'll check out the ECS product.. it's the black plastic block that you mount to the FMIC to and also shave away for some people. so bottoming out cracked it... it's a huge pain to replace, since you have to take apart the whole front end just to get to it.

i'm on pss9's, drop is only a few inches, but it's low enough that i scrape fairly often. wheels are pretty flush with the fenders.

can someone link the ECS reinforcement bar? i can't find it.

all in seriousness. id replace the whole FMIC. I wouldnt want to run the risk of hydro locking the engine if I were you especially if you're lowered. as for the mount im sure the other guys could chime in. I mean what do I know I drive a 128i lmfao

there's no leaks, it just hangs diagnol, so the car runs fine. i just don't want to risk it falling off if i hit a bump too hard.

the aftermarket brace that hooks to the sway bar bolts and attaches to the FMIC tabs to help support the FMIC, i know HPF use to make it, but they aren't in biz anymore?

yea that's probably it.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...32&hg=51&fg=75

same thing right? it's what the FMIC bolts onto. the black plastic part you have to shave away... that thing is seems like a huge pain in the ass to replace, so i'd rather just get reinforcement mounts.

i need something like this, anyone know where i can buy those?

why dont you just fab something up.. that doesn't look hard. go to your local hardware store and pick up some bolts and metal supporting braces.

i don't have that kind of time or skill lol, never welded before.

i just want to buy the braces, and take it to my shop and have them fix it..i figure if i can find the braces i can save some $ on labor.

+1

seriously no welding needed worst case.. just measure up how long you need it, get a thick enough piece and drill holes
