Yes, updates in the works. In short:

- Final cooler fitment done.
- Ducting built.
- 2 track days in, with out issue.
- Peak oil temps dropped about 5-15* depending on track conditions. Was at Autoclub for Bimmerfest, in 80* ambient temps on 17psi tune oil sat between 255-265 all day, and NO MORE LIMP MODE, no CEL's all day.
- Recovery, i.e. doing a cool down lap, is much faster than the stock cooler.
- Will be building a dual cooler setup to see if I can get the car to run even cooler.

If the interest is there, I can begin figuring out pricing for the single core units with the ducting since the design is pretty much 100%. Very pleased with the results at Bimmerfest this weekend.

Nice. I am starting to research adding an oil cooler, radiator, and DCT cooler that will remove the DCT heat exchanger. Interested to see pics of the final install.

Hey All, sorry for the lack of updates.

Hit Redline and houtan

Will have to work out pricing on the kits, but my goal would be to offer introductory pricing around $500 or so for the complete kit for the first couple of buyers in exchange for writing a review and covering their experiences with the product.
Since you guys are in SoCal it would be ideal to meet with you in person, show you my car, help with the install on your own vehicles, etc. and get your opinions about the coolers.

At present, the only hang up is in designing the mounting bracket, which due to the tight confines of the 1-series front bumper and fender area is tricky, to say the least. My room mate wants to take my setup and put it in CAD to so we can replicate it perfectly every time and reduce assembly times, which right now, are quite lengthy.

If the interest is there, let me know and I'll actually prioritize this project. As of late, the BMW hasn't been getting much attention compared to my other projects, which is why I say that.

Thanks for the reply. What adapter are you using on the oil filter housing side to connect the AN lines? Also, if you do the bracket in CAD for the passenger side, would it be possible to do one for you the drivers side as well?

At present, I use an OTS adapter from Bimmerworld until I can confidently fabricate something better.

Yes, I will be building a driver's side kit as well for the option of a dual setup.

Oil cooler sounds amazing. What's the weight disadvantage though?

Not as much as you may think. The OE system uses all hardlines, which are quite hefty. Considering that this cooler adds approximately an extra 1/2 quart of oil capacity, and the weight of the cooler, bracket and everything, I'm guessing it's about a 5lb total weight differential. I can weigh the bracket and cooler while I have it off for prototpying/replicating.

I will say this: Switching from the OEM intercooler to an aftermarket one, which is crucial for track work, is a substantially larger weight increase. Consider both items necessary evils, as it were.

when you get the chance, can you please post the link? was looking for it earlier today.

Looking forward to the dual oil cooler setup. i am looking to do oil cooler on the passenger side, transmission cooler on the drivers side with external thermostat and delete the factory transmission heater. Then down the road get a csf radiator for a manual transmission since i wont need the outlet/inlet for the transmission heater.

Only part that i think will be challenging for me personally are the oil cooler mounts.

Sadly, no.

Most of my time has been devoted to a new role I've taken on at work, and my 240sx drift car outside of work. We have two big events coming up at the end of January and the first week of February, so that's where my focus has been.

The 1'er has been largely parked for the past six months or so. Have done a lot of upgrades in the interim, but still fighting some issues. Hoping to have the car on track again in early February, and hope to have progress on oil cooler kits in a similar time frame.

Alright, car is up on stands now. Will be doing some tweaks to the ducting and then putting the bracket and ducting into CAD for easier replication. Completion timeframe is 2-3 weeks from CAD recreation to initial samples being fabricated. Hoping to produce an initial round of 5-10 kits.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Are you going to look at designing a bracket for the drivers side as well in case someone wants a dual cooler setup?

In due time, yes. I want to build a dual cooler setup. However, the current priority is building the single cooler kits first.

A single cooler kit that works for you in the LA heat would be more than ample for someone like me who is facing some 80/90 degree weather up north during the summertime. Look forward to seeing the production ready oil coolers!

Just curious. Do you have an upgraded radiator, like the CSF unit? I heard they really help with water and oil temp.

Most all of the Socal tracks are in the desert. The car and I have been through half a dozen 110*+ track days
