Ahh sorry PS - Power steering. got it thanks.
Isn't that to much? I mean it is great to maintain your car but replacing even PS res... I would do that only if my PS pump would fail. Also you really need to know how to properly change PS fluid to avoid damaging PS pump with air which can get in during the change.
Yea... PS = Power Steering

Well... the way I look at the PS system... the filter is built into the PS res. So what is cheaper... a $40 res and $20 worth of PS fluid... or a new steering rack?

It wasn't all that long ago when people said never to change your brake fluid. I kind of think of it like that. Replacing fluids is way cheaper than replacing hardware components down the road.

yup, every 5k because 10k intervals are absolutely ridiculous. I do all the maintenance on my car while suspension and exhaust work is left to shops since i have no lift nor the proper tools.

Plan on doing basic maintenance for the 1. Have done it on my 02 wrx before. Doing more complex things for the 1 worries me because it's an expensive car and there's no shop manual (except for ebay ones, which I might grab soon)

I change my own every 7-8K miles. Takes me longer to get the car on ramps and clean up then actually perform the service. It's so satisfying to take care of your own car.

+1... It's a bit tricky if you don't have some grippy pads under the ramps to keep 'em from sliding away.
