Interestingly enough, I'm finding the 135s and 128s to be more attractive since I bought the 1M.

There is a BSM 135 that I see around my neighborhood once in a while and it's a nice looking car.

This was not a 1M vs. anything thread. Read the OP and you'll realize that YOU are making it a VS discussion.

Furthermore, and like it or not, the 135i and the 1M are inextricably connected as counterpoints to one another. Do you have any idea how much the M3 has been compared to the 335i in the M3 forum? And they are "more different" from each other than almost any other two Bimmers.

Lastly, if you don't like where a thread is going, don't participate. Ultimately, it's the collective interest that creates these discussions. If it exists, then it's valid.

OP

X > Y shits are unavoidable. It's like the old days where 128 owner posts "wtb more power" and 135 owners go "get a 135", and 128 to 118, etc.

Jerks are everywhere. Ignore them. People will continue to stroke their epeen whenever they see a chance, as long as such platform exists.

I drive a 135i coupe. If I see any M car owners I always try to acknowledge the driver by giving a smile or thumbs up. I'd be the guy smiling all day and taking cell phone pics if I saw a 1M on the road or parked! Love the car and all enthusiast BMW or M car owners.

If an 1 series driver wanted a drive in a 1M I would happily oblige and give him the keys. An enthusiast is an enthusiast. Still don't think anyone cares abou the car I like to be understated though.

Not many people that notice the 1M. I think that many owners are exaggerating the attention a bit. The ones that notice it are usually enthusiasts. A Porsche Cayman R gets loads of more attention. Especially from females. I bought it because of the excellent price/performance ratio. Not to get any attention.

How 1-series owners react? No clue as I drive the car and don't look at how others look at my car. I think most attention comes from the car being rare and the four pipes in the back plus the M badge. The ones with Orange cars probably drive attention due to that. The coupe is not a very common 1-series over here. The convertible is quite common.

Hey guys I've had some reactions from the 1 series crowd.

First of all a 1 series sighting is a rare event in these parts. 3's 5's and 7's all day long and x5's and x3's.

Good Reactions --->
When I was driving it home from the dealer I was stoped at a local country intersection. A one series was turning to go down the street I was stoped at. I looked over at him he had slowed down to look at me and gave me the thumbs up.

Another time I was out and about during lunch with a coworker. We were rolling through a busy intersection and a 1 series spotted me. He rolled down his window and yelled out "It's beautiful !!" That was very cool --->

Not so good reaction --->
I was at the race track just cruising in to see a friend get his track time in with a VW GTI. When I pulled into the paddock I spotted a AW 135i race prepped bimmer parked up front all by itself. I thought cool it's like my twin brother so I parked along side him. The owner wasn't around so I just walked over to my friends with the VW's. I was excited to see the reaction of the owner when he saw what was parked next to him.
Later I finally saw the 135 owner and I was like "look it's like were twins" his reaction wasn't what I was expecting. He didn't even want to look at it and compare notes. He just kind of shrugged and said "I bought mine before they came out with the M". and that was it! nothing else said. So I decided to park near my friends and got plenty of attention from the VW crowd. His reaction was a bit disappointing.

Your account is interesting.

I often observe that people look at life in one of two ways:

1) Wealth is limited, so one person's fortune is another person's loss.

2) Wealth is unlimited, so one is happy for everyone's respective fortunes.
