Did you get the slot in the console? If not, the cup holder isn't going to work. It is not an option unless you ordered iDrive, or got a dealer ordered car.

I didn't order idrive but I did have a dealer ordered car which I picked up ED. Didn't think about the thing till I saw the holder on a friend's 1 the other day.

The cup holder I was talking about sits on the side of the center console next to the shift knob on the passenger side. Is this the one you don't like? If so, all is well...each to his own. Just wondered. I think the ones in the dash are extreme ugliness! I'll check with Dan and maybe it's what I'm wanting...dunno! Thanx to both of you.

The cars that got the 3rd cupholder and not Idrive are cars that were changed after the oder was already in place, and IDrive was removed. When you add IDrive to the order, it adds the cupholder option, but when you take IDrive off the order, the cupholder option stays. It's a glitch in BMW's ordering software. Non-Idrive cars aren't suppose to have it at all. |

Grrrr, drop the cup holder, your driving not drinking! save the drinking when you get to the office/home.
I can't understand this fascination with cup holders in cars and this need to drink while driving. Rant over
