HID angel eye setup

with a 55W HID kit i decided to do hid angel eyes to see how it would look
didnt turn out to bad..it was really bright so i didnt need to turn on my headlights at night
but it threw errors since the adaptive headlights couldnt work .
just thought i would post it to see what all of you think.

funny thing is i dont even have it on my car...i did it one day took some pictures then sold the kit the next day to someone with an e90...its the same as using GP thunder bulbs but i was being original...if you refer to this being "Crap" then its the same as saying GP thunder bulbs are crap....your just changing the color of the angel eyes...its as bright as your night time bulbs but not brighter than that...but it throws errors with the adaptive headlight so i took it out...

the main distinction between various HID/xenon setups is whether they use projectors or not. projectors give that sharp cutoff and blue light associated with HID/xenon.

HID bulbs give off less heat that Halogens. That's the appeal. Less Heat, Less Power, Longer life, Better light.

pictures probably dont do this justice, it apears to be night shots, so the camera is probably over exposed make you think its as bright as a high beam (which the top pic suggests).

I'm sure they just look like bright white angle eyes in person.

Xenons (just the bulbs) are the poor man's HIDs... for $20 you can get some "HID" bulbs, but for $125-500 you can get the real stuff... personally, i'd just use some regular hyperwhite bulbs on the angel eyes, since they are strictly for visual appeal.. but i would use some kind of 3000k high beams for superior sight in fog and rain..

Are the inner rings always much brighter than the outer ones no matter what bulbs you use? Anyone know why the center ones always seem much brighter? I use to see them on E46 and they seem to be equally bright on all the rings.

There's only one bulb per housing, and it is behind the inner ring.

I was bored at work today and happened to have an old xenon headlight assembly handy. Measuring with a "LASER" thermometer, both xenon and halogen bulbs exceeded 600 degrees at their hottest points.

Its really not that bad. I have a friend who put some in his e92 M3, and although they are bright, it looks no brighter than DDE's you can buy for an e46 or any other BMW
