antenna

My 1 is still on the boat. I didn't order sirus, HD radio or the BMW assist. Is my car still going to have that ugly-as-**** antenna on the roof?

Look how much nicer/cleaner it looks w/o it!

All US cars come prewired/configured for cellphone integration. You get the shark fin regardless.

That's retarded. Why put something on the car that's not useful?

Anyone know how to remove it, and best way (if any) to conceal the subsequent hole?

Most cars incorporate the AM/FM radio atenna into the rear window. So that hump on the roof is a step backwards.

Not only is it unsightly, but it bothers me because it serves no purpose (having not ordered Sirus, nav or BMW assist.)

I'd gladly have bought the Sirus upgrade, but it would be another monthly bill, so forget it.

Every car receives the shark fin antenna as it may possibly be a manufacturing convenience for BMW, by doing it that way, producing a car requires but one die/stamp for the roof sheet metal.:iono: I'm with you, however, the directional stabilizer/antenna interrupts the line of the roof.

That makes sense and is usually the case. However, the European, Australian...etc 135i's go down the same assembly line and are available w/o the hump.

The only thing I can think of, along those lines are, all 135i's with the sunroof have to have the antenna, since the roof die/stamp already accommodates it. Since all US spec cars have the sunroof standard, we get the unsightly hump as well.

I really like the sunroof, but I wouldn't've (new word) ordered it given the choice. It's more weight, well above the CG at that, and the roof line would look cleaner.

i think the best bet for cosmetics is to replace the fin with a carbon fiber one, or perhaps a smaller one. i think i've seen guys do that on e90's

A smaller one...that's a good idea. I'll have to find someone on here that's done that.
