I'm not sure it's politically advisable for a US administration to agree to a world standard unless it exactly matched and was in the future controlled by the US. My preference is to cooperate and reduce costs/complexity.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

BTW, I LOVE these seats.
I've seen these seats in a 1er at the Welt, plus all carbon fiber interior. It was sweet....

I did not noticed it the first times i looked to the tacho but now i see that 120° is in the middle of the oiltemperature meter. This is only 100° in my M3 so the fact these engines become easily very hot will probably also be a fact in the new 1M, otherwise they would not place such a high temperature in the middle. I thought there was a extra oilcooler...

I'm officially uninterested in this.

My only take on the guages is that they don't show it belongs to a premium sports car.

I've met someone who saw 2 uncamouflaged 1M's at the factory in Leipzig coming of the production line. He saw a white one with "stock" wheels and the Valencia Orange one with the M3 Competion Wheels. Strange because i thought there were only 19" rims but apparently not.
This was during a visit at the factory and the guide told them they were very lucky that they saw that. Of course it was ( as usual ) forbidden to take pictures in the factory.
The hoods were open and BMW M POWER with the known colours was clearly marked on the engines. He heard them start up and immediately took them away. They sounded very E46 M3 wise he said.

Well.. M Power on engine cover means nothing. I will still get it regardless, but it would be lame if ///M didn't change anything physical to the engine (not drive train) and slap on a ///M badge.

Check my post "Autoweek - Larger Turbos."

Greg Kable has written articles in both Autoweek (Nov. 8) and Autocar stating that the N54 in the 1 Series M Coupe is fitted with larger turbos, higher boost and unique mapping. In addition, Chris Harris in the Evo video suggests same.

If they replaced those laughably tiny TD03s then I'm sold!
