Probably a dumb question, longevity and mods
Seeing as though I have decided to never sell my car and I want to do some performance mods, naturally I wonder if it will reduce the lifespan of the engine?
Are their particular mods I should stay away from in regards to this, will it even matter?

In absolute terms? Sure, you are putting more load on every component. In realistic, day to day terms? No, you are not hurting the motor if the tuning is sound. Basic bolt on type stuff in many ways makes your car more efficient, if anything.

Assuming you aren't going all out, just basic bolt ons and tunes; I wouldn't worry about premature failure of components.
All you need to do is keep up with maintenance intervals for a tuned vehicle and you keep running strong.
