If you have the money, its always nice to change out the engine.

good point!

My PCV diaphragm cover (whatever you call it) broke during my valve cover replacement. The nipple that the hose attaches to broke off. I superglued it and it worked to get me rolling, then just this morning I replaced it with the $30 part floating around eBay. Wasn't great... had to break the old diaphragm off with a chisel, but it ended up being fine and the new piece seems robust. It seemed reasonable to try considering the cost and time involved with replacing the valve cover.

Didn't solve my idle issue though.

That's a good point. The responsible thing to do is an S65 swap.

Why stop there? An s85 is around the same price for the motor

Sorry if you've mentioned it before already but what idle issue are you having? Are the RPMs moving around a bit?

My car idles well but vibrates like I have a reeeaaalllly small vacuum leak, as if the AC compressor is running but it isn't, but I have no idea where. When I put my new valve cover on one of the PCV breather cap things broke off and I platic epoxied it, so I think that may have failed. Ill get around to properly JB welding it (lol) when I do MILVs

I have a thread about it in the 128i section but the short version is it does cycles where it drops to 400 RPM, the revs to 800 and goes back to about 600. Repeat every 3-4 seconds. Sometimes it stalls at red lights. Resetting adaptations fixes it. I’ve replaced almost all sensors that might affect it. It started with header install but BPC tune didn’t fix it and they have no idea what’s wrong, neither does a reputable indy. At this point I am prepping the car to be primarily a track car and will deal with it. Overall very unimpressed with the combo of AA headers and BPC tune... basically ruined the car as a DD. I actually bought a Tacoma as a new DD and have put ~1k miles on the 1er in the past 6 months. Really bummed about the whole situation.

... rant over. The eBay PCV cover seems okay. I would try it before JB welding anything or dropping money on a new valve cover.
