135i n55 performance pack

Hi all ...

i just want to find out how many 135's were made with the performance pack (240kw).

i currently own a 135i n55 , but would like to find out more about the 240kw cause i got smashed by one.

No such thing as a "135i with Performance pack."

The Performance Power Kit is sold as an accessory so everyone can get it.

There was a limited run of 2013 135is models that were equipped with PPK2 from the factory, though. Only 586 were made.

The 135is was only made for the US.

I don't have PPK on my car yet (I am probably going to get the SW) and I think if you don't track your car or drive the car in very high temps, it is not needed. It is only a slight power increase, definitely no JB4 map 5 or whatever.

If you really want to have better cooling, aftermarket is the way to go IMHO. Tbh there are members who have much more experience in this than me. Maybe someone will chime in.

The BMW Performance Power Kit (PPK) comes in version 1 and version 2. Version 1 consists of an ECU reflash and version 2 includes the same ECU reflash but adds an auxiliary radiator and upgraded radiator fan for better cooling during extreme driving. I would say that version 2 isn't necessary unless you track your car and such.

The ECU reflash adds 20 hp and 32 lb-ft of torque to steptronic automatic transmission equipped cars (17 lb-ft of torque for manual and dual clutch transmission equipped cars). Both versions add a sporty exhaust popping and crackling sound during engine overrun.

I have PPK version 1 and I'm very happy with it. I notice the difference in power and the sound it makes is awesome! At times, I drive very spirited and my car never overheats. For me, it is worth the money.

Check with your local dealer for availability and pricing, or do a search on the internet.

I had the PPK2 installed on my car. I opted for this due to a couple of reasons. One, I'd like to leave the option open to putting my car on the track. The second is due to the area I drive in. DC. The capital of the 20 mile parking lot. There has been some extremely hot days this past summer and it was nice seeing the oil temp not breaking 250F with temps at 90 to 100F and the car sitting in stop and go traffic for over an hour.

Well, there is a third reason. The fact it is a factory upgrade. I know there are aftermarket options but I'm at a stage in my life where I prefer to not have any headaches if at all possible. Been down that route years ago with aftermarket mods.

I live in the Inland Empire where the temps in the summer can reach 105 plus degrees and never have any overheating issues... just saying.

The termostat is adaptive. That's why the temps are always higher when driving in town than out of the town when you're "enjoying the power."

Once my car warms up, the oil temp stays between 240 and 250F, always. Maybe that because I'm always "enjoying the power." After it warms up, of course.

But are you sitting in traffic sometimes creeping along at 3 to 5 MPH if you're moving at all at 105 plus?

A decent cooling system will work all day long if you're flying around at any decent speed to move enough air through the cooling system even if you're driving through 120+F temperatures.

Sorry, but I'm not playing around with cooling with my car especially in the ridiculous traffic I have to drive through. I've been conditioned with my high performance sport bikes which don't like being stopped for even a few minutes. I learned my lesson when I had to duck walk my ZX-10R during the Thanksgiving jailbreak for half a mile with the engine shut off because temps were approaching the danger level. Same thing happened with my 848. Had to pull over the side of the road to wait for the engine to cool enough to jump back into traffic.

Understand and appreciate your situation. To answer your question: Not in traffic too often these days. Guess I'm lucky.

Hey bud. I'm in sunny South Africa (Cape Town) and I have a PPK2 135i n55. There are many around here with the PPK1 running around. But very few with the PPK2 hardware

Okay hope you enjoying the power bud ??absolutely amazing car and alot of power compared to other 135's if we compare stock for stock.... so i own a 135i n55 ppk 2 should i consider this to be really special ??
