Mass Air Flow sensor.

Why do you think you need a BOV to begin with? Are you solving a problem of some sort?

All BMW use MAF sensors that has nothing to do with this question.
N55 have a turbo mounted BOV not charge pipe mounted like N54.
This is why it is unchangeable

N54s are not MAF, that is false. N55s cannot VTA due to MAF pre turbo. The recirc is indeed built in, but that’s hardly the limiting factor. Easy to get around that part of the equation, both Tony and Rob have done so for their STG2 offerings. N54s read mani air pressure via the TMAP. Obviously you can’t /shouldn’t vent metered air on the N55.

If you want the sound get a BMS intake I have one and removed the cowl and slapped on Cowl Filters from BMS. Nice loud Swoosh when you let off the throttle. You can not use a BOV on a n55, the DV Valve is on the Turbo housing deep inside the engine.

I heard that the filter was not as good as the OEM and dirt could go inside the engine creating future problems

Nothing will affect your warranty unless they can specifically tie the mod to the issue during a warranty claim. I take my care to service FBO with Meth installed.
