My car is not under warranty and the local BMW dealership quoted me $135 for any/all updates

Thank you everyone for your responses, this was very helpful. I unfortunately had to cancel my appointment to get the SW Updates because of snow. The weather seems to be better, so I will try again soon.

It seems like whenever I bring my car in they just do whatever update they want and don't even ask me.

I have a 6-speed so the hesitation isn't an issue but at some point I did loose my pops and burbles from the exhaust.

They are for any car. We are specifically discussing the 2011+ w/ DCT tho.

I bought my car used. It had already had the SIB done. The listed SIB is specific to DCT. I don't think it is part of a general software update.

That said, I still found it was hesitant from a stop but did not have idle issues. I had the PPK installed via coding and it's fixed. It honestly transformed the way the car drives. Smoother, better, faster.

I finally had the software updates installed. They checked my software level when I brought it in and I was almost at factory base level. My starting integration level was E89X-11_09-505 and now I am at E89X-16-03-502. The lurching and hesitation are gone, but I am a little sad that the car is now more ladylike. It is quieter at start and idle, and it seems more refined (less raw) when driving.

Sorry to hear that they tamed your car a little bit. This is always my fear with software updates. Glad it cured your issues though. Maybe if you got PPK it would help to liven it up some.

Another thing to mention is that I have a very good relationship with my service adviser and she probably went to bat for me as well.
Hi Ignote, do you mind I request a copy of letter from you. I had this incident at the stoplight over the last weekend, car surged and jumped two feet forward. Luckily I was't too close to the car in front me. The car really needs to have the SIB 12 15 14 updated. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Can you send me that letter, or simply post it? I have a 2013 135i under BMW extended warranty and I want to see if they'll help me.
