they spec out to be 2mm larger in diameter than the ones on a 135 or a 128 w/BBK, but having worked with theses for a while, that wont be an issue, i think theses may be our holy grail to get some better brake cooling on street cars that see the track without having to cut up wheel well liners to put in make shift expensive ducting ..

I for see if anything just either drilling 3 new holes to mount it to our spindels, but so what, its not like they are structural..

Once i have them i will take some pics and do an install..

I did this back in 2006 on my '04 Cobra... I'll take that royalty check anytime. Thanks! LOL. There is no question that this does work, and the F30 guards will be an excellent compromise for those not willing to cut and bend.

I am sure they must have gotten the idea from this forum. I heard the 1M was the brainchild of this forum.

I was just searching getbmwparts.com, but it was not found. I was hoping to do this change as part of changing to summer wheels so I don't have to do another unmount.

I haven't had my 130i up on stands yet(will do so when my BBK arrives.) is it possible to remove the fog lights and duct cold air from their location through to the brakes?

Thread revival time...
Did anybody try these cooling plates on the track?
What are your thoughts on their effectiveness?

What about brake scoops mounted to the hub or control arm?
Has anyone tried this on a BMW? I'd really like to do this.

It looks like people have adapted Porsche brake scoops onto various models (Focus, Audi, etc.)

$20 from ECS

The other options is hub mounted scoops, which are cool because they look F1 style

I just installed home made 2" ducting which I attached to my stock brake dust shields. Got rid of the F30 brake shields. Cost me about $80CAD in parts. Will see how this goes once the 2015 season starts in mid to late April ...

That looks simple and promising. Securing the duct to the anti-roll bar looks like a good idea and should control how and where it flexes.

Interested in the parts list here and if the hoses rub on the street/track. It looks like it rubs on the upper arm.

No rubbing but squeezing between the Sway bar and control arms is more the term I'd used. The category of piping you see in these pics was a little too rigid. The routing can use some work too.

Will try to snap pictures when I refresh the ducting and re-route it. Got to get to this before the lapping season starts over here in Quebec, Canada in April ...

Parts I ued are: Stock dust shields, two 2" in aluminium flanges and 6 feet of CAT8 2" ducting (aircraft grade), 2 90* 2 inch OD central VAC plastic couplers, four hose clamps.

Where do you source this stuff? Sounds like I need a specialty supply store of some sort.
