really a silly question. Ask Corvette owners, what's the best Corvette. Ditto for 911 owners. I imagine you will get more opinions than you can count. Opinions are like A******s, everyone's got one. The best M car for me is my 1M. Why, cause I have one and it's a blast to drive + not so many around. I like driving something a little different than anyone else.

Maybe if it had a longer wheelbase. I've heard it's a bit twitchy at track speed.
The s65 has a low torque and a linear powerband. The s65 in an e82 chassis is more predictable than an n54.
I'm quite familiar with the S65. I was referring to the 1M chassis, not the motor.

I'm saying an s65 in the 1M shorter chassis is a very nice and predictable package. The v8 lends itself very well to the 1M chassis.

just because the E46 M3 was sold in massive numbers and was very popular doesn't make it the best....by any means. I think the 1M is a much more enjoyable and enthusiastic car to drive than the E46 M3...and it looks even more aggressive and badass...

I wouldn't even put the E46 M3 in my top 3 M cars...the Z4M Coupe was a much more enjoyable drivers car from that era, IMO.

I've owned a Z4M and currently own a 1M - talk about two different driving styles. I sold the Z4M because at the time I needed something with a back seat, but now I want to buy one again (and keep the 1M). The Z4M is probably my favorite looking BMW, and it also has the S54...which is the reason I bought it over the M3. Plus, that care got more unusual stares and comments than any other vehicle I've ever owned.

Looks wise? the 1M is more badass looking than anything in your garage.....by quite a large margin actually. Not everyone likes ordinary or pedestrian looks...
Judging by the sheer volume of posts you have published in this thread defending the 1M I don't think it's a stretch to say I won't be changing your mind, and that's perfectly fine with me. I genuinely wish you many more happy and safe miles in your peppy lil one series.

this is the 1M forum...and i am a 1M owner who loves their car. Not sure what you were expecting...that your trolly opinion was so wonderful you would change our minds!?

can't tell if you're trolling or not. The E46 M3 is a legend and so so engaging. There's a reason it's a modern classic.

LOL, what an infantile reply. I don't have neither, but I had both, so didn't "miss a boat" on anything - was just giving my opinion.

But you just stay frothy, my man.

Trolling for what? LOL. Because I don't agree with you? This isn't an E46 forum and the Z4M coupe was a significantly more enjoyable drive than the E46 M3, IMO...so it's definitely not top 3 to me.

Oh, it's you again (sigh).

Just an FYI, this thread is linked to the home screen of Bimmerpost meaning everyone from one series owners to M6 convertible owners are forced to look at that ghastly creature upon login. If you think I somehow wandered onto your home turf in some sick attempt to "troll" one series owners then you are once again mistaken. I do find it interesting that nearly half of the comments on this thread come from non owners and yet I am the only one you have specifically informed that "this is the one series forum".

I'm really not sure what your problem is. You like your one series and agree with the video; myself and others don't. It's really that simple. Maybe YOU are the one trolling me? However, if you think incessantly posting in an attempt to get the last word in with 10+ different strangers on the internet makes your opinion any more valid than mine I will once again be forced to say that we are not in agreement.

This kind of groupie following seems to happen in any enthusiast market surrounding a more "limited" product, especially online communities, where the very small but very vocal minority incessantly preach their praises as gospel.

97% of ///M cars beat the 1M sitting perfectly still with the keys in their owners pocket. The thing looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame had a one night stand with Flavor Flav.

"But the 1M has pappy's Ole Stick".... Sure, and my neighbor mows his own lawn. Takes him twice as long and he ends up with dog shit on his shoes.

The 1M is no more special today then it was when it was announced - a pile of recycled parts slapped together around an N, I repeat N, 54.

Amazing what a bunch of fanatics can do to a products supposed online popularity. Remember, if this was religion, you guys would be a cult and it would be frowned upon.
The looks are polarizing I agree. However, driving it is a blast and hence why it will always be considered a classic. If you haven't had the opportunity to drive one you should. Now the M6 to me is a giant boat. Had one for a bit and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Guess that is why BMW gives us a choice! If you are going down the grand touring route I would go Aston. Interestingly we have a similar line up. 1M, 997 TT-S, and '18 Raptor for me.

If you live where it is very twisty and you can use the dynamic handling of this car. Yes, this is possibly the best M.

If you live where there are long straights that are more fun revving out other M engines then it would not be the best M.

Depends on what you are going to use it for, IMHO.

Same here my eye wanders I drive the new stuff and go back home happy in 1M again. It's not perfect and E46 is more beautiful but hard to trade it in.

Agree... I just bought my 4th E46 M3 and am in the process of bringing it back to glory - An Interlagos Blue ZCP car. Not sure which is under my skin more... 1M or the E46.

I've never own the E46 m3, but have driven one, I've have always love the E46 combination of engine and chassis, and the best looking M imho. Even though I have the 1M since 2011, love it and would never sell it, I still believe the E46 is the best M. Thats the reason why the MT E46 still holding value/ and even going up as we speak.
