Navi & Dynamic Routing
I see that the navigation system offers dynamic routing with real time traffic updates. How do we know what markets this is offered in? Also, is this BMW's guinea pig for this system?

Good find. I hadn't heard that before.

Navteq is the company provides the navigation software for most BMWs
Apparently they rolled out the real time traffic updates to the following markets in June 07 Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco/Oakland, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa and Washington DC. However if the system in the 135i isn't Navteq and runs off the RDS(FM) traffic feed, then most major cities should have this already, especially if you have a TV station that provides real time traffic reporting. That is an indication that the FM traffic update is available, since that is what they typically use. |

Not that I condone it (or commend it for that matter), but there's always this thread on e90post, where people share the newer version.
BMW does use Navteq. |
