I kinda like it (just to be different).

If it was the 4-door hatch (which I find better proportioned), I would gladly trade in my 135i coupe, but I don't see that ever coming to the US.

I like it too. I would buy one if it were available in the US.
I'm just sad that they downgraded the 135 to a point that, to get back the performance I have today in my 2012 E82 135i I would have to move up to the M version of the F20.

I can confirm it is NOT a 'downtuned' 1M engine. It is a N55.

That would be tempting. I too like the hatch (I owned a C320 coupe/hatchback prior to the 1M). The F20 headlights need help though.

Maybe I should explain why I came to this conclusion. The article states: "power plant featuring....Twin Power turbo technology" vs. "In the BMW 1 Series M Coupé, the straight six-cylinder engine with M TwinTurbo technology"

Hence why I assumed N55. Anyone...?

Guys, I advise everyone interested to check out this actual M135i thread again, a new post by Scott26, post #81, where he replies some comments (including mine that I made earlier today in that thread I am guessing) and gives some relatively tangible insight about "1M's successor". I found it interesting that he openly tells BMW will not go into a hp race with Audi and others while developing the M2, will not produce something like 400+hp car and will follow the successful formula of a "fun car" that 1M represents by focusing on loosing weight. Check out his post and we can invite him to comment further maybe.

Hadn't seen this thread before. Wow! Beautiful render, pleasant looking front end and the 1M cues are spot on, has an aggressive look that reminds my of some of the serious WRC cars of past- Lancia Integrale, Renault 5 Turbo !

The M135i (F20) is indeed a N55 with a PPK on it. So... N55 with 320 PS.

The next M3 (F80) will (or should)have a twin turbo S55 engine which, as you guessed will be based on a N55 engine.
