Crimson Red 135 in San Antonio soon!

I see you picked up you 128 from the BMW Center in SA. I should be receiving my Crimson Red with Savanna Beige 135 in about 3 more weeks. Hope to catch up with you at the Center someday. I like that Cashmere color too. I think it is very classy! I will post pics of mine as soon as it comes in.
Enjoy!

Why did it take so long for San Antonio to get a 1? I see other places have had them for a few months. I read all over here that it is based on allocation. The more a dealership sells, the more they are allocated. Does that mean San Antonio's dealership is bad and results in a vicious circle of poor sales and low allocations?

Good question, Shawn. I have been waiting for my 135 coupe forever! I see other members on the forum who ordered much more recently than I did who already have their cars. I do know that the dealer in SA is only getting an allocation of about 2 cars per month this year (135 coupes). They can get you a 128 coupe much more quickly, but all of their allocations for the 135 are taken for months in advance. Not sure if this has to do with sales or just the limited production status. It seems that the 135's are pretty popular in most parts of the country right now which is why it is hard to get a good deal on one. I like their service department in SA as I have dealt with them the past 12 years, but they are hard to deal with in the sales area (I do like several of the CA's there, Robert and Andy).

Since I plan on buying the 135 next year (just paid my last car note off), finding this site is a wonderful source to prepare. If S.A. CAs are hard to deal with in the sales area, I will go elsewhere. Austin isn't that far. If S.A. is that bad, my principles would require me to go to the Austin dealership for every possilbe routine maintenance issue that BMW would pay for. No sense in giving a bad dealership any more money than it already gets.

Shawn:
Although I am not trying to defend the dealership, the lack of cars doesn't have anything to do with that aspect. None of the dealers in Texas have many cars, especially the 135's. Some states, such as Florida seem to have more cars in stock, but most other places you will have to order your car, not just walk in and pick one out from stock. It may be a bit better next year since the new model aspect may have worn off by then. All of this year's production is sold, so only the few dealers who have cars on the showroom (including the demos) can still sell anyone a 2008 model. The factory is closing the end of this month and will reopen in Sept. with the 2009 model.

My wife and I just picked up our AW/Coral Red 135i yesterday. It was a special order that the individual didn't end up purchasing for whatever reason. This worked out for us since these are the colors we would have chosen ourselves. It worked out in our favor.

Phil, my wife called me from work this morning reporting that she saw her first 1 during her commute. She raved at how beautiful it was and said it was "cream". Of course, I thought she meant alpine white. But further investigation when she got home reveals from the endless number of color threads available on this forum that it was a cashmere silver. Then during the Cashmere silver thread, I came across one with the obvious San Antonio highway system in the background. And when I scrolled further, my wife pointed to a picture of a cashmere silver with owner and said, it was him. Well, Phil, my wife is stalking you now. Look out for the R53 with out-of-state plates and an woman with a lead foot.

Thanks. I'm very happy with my car. I commute same time east 410 each morning and west 410 from Perrin-Beitel 4:35 p.m. each evening. Usually in middle lane, chillin. Life is good.

Hi, Guys: I too am now enjoying my Crimson Red/Savannah Beige 135 on the streets of San Antonio. I have had it a little over two months now, but have yet to see a single 1 series in town yet. The only one series I have seen was on I-35 coming back from Dallas a couple months ago; he exited at San Marcos. This car must be rarer that Ferrari's as I have seen two or three of them recently. If you see a Crimson red 135 flash your lights at me to say hello!

My wife has an apline white/crimson red 135i. It's good to know there's another 135i owner in San Antonio.
