135 Alarm
Can anyone tell me what features the optional alarm has on the 135? I realize there are some security features built into the car (eg electronic key fob), but what does the alarm actually do?
Thanks, |

The vehicle alarm system responds:
- When a door, the hood, or the luggage compartment is opened - To movements inside the vehicle interior... - When the car's inclination changes... - When there is an interruption in the power supply from the battery. Above cribbed from the Owners' Manual dowloaded from a thread elsewhere in the forum. You probably want to read the section in detail. |

There is some confusing information in that thread. Here is the info as I understand it. -> 1 series from start of production through 2/2009: The car comes prewired for the alarm. Alarm kit can be purchased and installed at any time. For full functionality the dealer will need to recode the car to recognize the alarm. -> 1 series from 3/2009 on: The alarm is now a factory option. The car is no longer prewired for the alarm. This means that you can not add the alarm later unless someone figures out how to run the missing wires and recode the car. The feature code for the factory alarm is 302 and the MSRP is $400 (USA). My 3/2009 production 135i has the factory alarm. Lou Last edited by voerman; 06-03-2009 at 05:03 PM.. |
