Disconnected Battery + Trunk Closed

So I accidentally closed the trunk after disconnecting the battery

Does anyone have a solution to open it? I tried searching for the key hole, no luck...

Mid 09's they did away with the push button under the trunk.

Option 1. Place jumper cables under the hood connection. That should "power up things" and you can use the key fob to unlock.

Option 2. Get in the back seat and drop the rear seat(s) reach in and pull the safety Glow in the dark emergency "child" handle to release the trunk lock.

pop the hood, use jumper cables to get enough juice to use the trunk button, then hook the battery back up as per http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...nected+battery

Thanks! I had a friend jump start while I released the trunk.

Sigh, BMW and their cost saving measures.

For completeness sake, I have heard you can also connect a simple 9 volt battery to the fuse box to power the trunk open button.

Someone tends to have this problem at least once every couple months.

Is there a release to drop the seat inside the car?

Um. Pretty sure the battery was put in the trunk for weight balance. Not cost savings. Its probably more expensive to put a battery in the trunk than under the hood of the engine bay.

I believe he was referring to BMW removing the push button for the trunk, BMWs have always had the battery in the trunk as far as i can remember.

Yeah. I caught that after I reread the post. Was too lazy to edit my post. I don't think it was a cost-saving method with that either. I think it was more of a technology thing. I can't see that saving much money. Even on a mass production car line.

Just to set the record straight, my 3/09 production 135i vert does have the push button near the rear license plate to open the trunk as well as the one in the passenger compartment. What was deleted is the keyhole to mechanically open the trunk. The push buttons open the trunk electronically, making them worthless if the battery is disconnected or dead.

This. I have a 2011 and I have the electronic button to release the trunk.

The keyhole cylinder was removed from the trunk lid.

In my experience the key hole is useless, after one winter they were usually done for. I'm glad BMW puts a carge post under the hood, that is something Jaguar never did back in the early 00 cars.
