Replacement AC evaporator experience

So my fairly new to me '08 E88 has succumbed to the AC evaporator leak. From my research, it appears that pretty much all of the US E82/E88s use the Valeo core (64119290888). This is the third attempt by Valeo/BMW to build a core that doesn't leak. So my question to those of you who have replaced their evaporator with the current generation core (64119290888), have you had any further issues or leaks?

Thanks!

I've had a leak for the past two years but don't know where it's coming from. I've been able to give it one recharge can for those two summers and it's worked well till the next year so I didn't give it much thought, bigger fish to fry. Guess I have to check the evap, thanks for the heads up on where to start.

My leak turned out to be the high-pressure hose, not the evaporator.

That turned out to be a $700 fix instead of a $2800 fix.

You better hope it's not the evaporator core. There was a thread floating around here with pictures of what apparently needs to be done to replace the evaporator core. The entire dash had to be taken out which pretty much means a total interior gut. It's crazy how engineers don't think outside of their little box when it comes to servicing the things they design.

Partially bad design (I've been told that the 1-Series is not the only BMW car line with this evaporator problem), and partially the skydiving like depreciation curve that has been a feature of these cars. If the cars retained any value, over time, then spending a few thousand dollars to deal with this problem might seem semi-acceptable, however unfortunately, for now, the cost of repair might be only 1.5 to 2x the value of the car, after the problem has been fixed.

German engineering; gotta love it.

Just had mine done last month. They have to go through the dash. Sit down before you look at the pics below.

Sh*t is starting to get real when it comes to the repairs required to keep these things going.
