Camber plates going on today! unfortunately its snowing so no test drive on the new tires/rims. I am going to put on the tires to make sure they fit and no trimming/rolling will be needed.

It's not snowing here in Boston (yet), maybe you should head this way for a test drive. After you get the camber plates installed, could you post the camber settings required to run those 255's up front? And your impressions of how it rides/drives on the streets with the camber settings? I've got ARC-8s arriving next week, but have not ordered rubber to grace the svelte forged alloy. Still debating how wide to go. |

I surely will. I might be in boston this weekend so you might be lucky! All I expect to do today is to see if they will fit without needing to trim the tab at max camber. I plan to just run max camber at auto-x. most likely over 3 degrees will be necessary on a stock fender. every degree of cember equals about 5.5mm of clearance. Ill post my impression if there is any loss of ride quality. Ill want an alignment before I post final impressions of camber plates though.

Andy, my alignment specs did not change for toe-in, after adding the plates, at street settings.
Caster, you only have one setting you can use for these plates to get max camber, and camber (the third alignment spec) is adjustable. Since you are not lowered, I am not sure you'll be able to get to -3deg, but since you are higher, under corner load, you'll be articulating the wheel up and in, giving more clearance. |

You are going to need a gauge of some sort, and you will need to mark the plates for deg of camber, if you want to be exact. Remember that the entire plates also slide back and forth in the slots built into the strut tower.
My streets were -.5, I think. and 1/16 toe in. |

What type of camber plates are you using? I think we have similar set-ups with stock suspension+m3 parts...did you find this to be inadequate for auto-x/track?
Those are some great looking rims and a whole lot of tire by the way! Nice Setup! Tim

His are the same as mine... Vorschlag camber plates, that can be configured for many different dampers, when ordering. Curious to hear arrutled's impressions, but I love mine.
He bought the camber plates for the express purpose of fitting 255's up front for autocross. |

Just for reference, since I mounted up a set of tires for a local customer, I threw their wheels up onto the scale. I have a true USPS/UPS certified scale accurate to 1/100th of a pound. Here is the 18x9.5" wheel with a 265/35/18 Falken tire mounted including TPMS sensor: 45.25lbs
Their front 245/35/18 combo was 43.15lbs. Back to what we were talking about..... |

like larry said. I only bought these to fit big tires up front. Otherwise the setup is very "adequate"

more like because we could not compress the spring enough for the threads on the strut to reach the nut on the camber plate.

We can certainly try. I wanted to go to the boston area anyways this weekend. Did you lose any ride height when you installed yours? cause the way its designed it looks like you will lose some height because of it.
