Any other mods you want done before I hand over the keys?

The Australian dealer has the fronts in stock and are telling me the backs are 1 week away.

But as WDE82 pointed out - we seem to be paying a significant surcharge down here.

That’s what I’ve heard too. I ordered B8s from Tirerack about a month ago and latest update is late May to get them in stock.

Exactly what I'm trying to do. I have a non paddle car, AT with steptronic "stick" shift. I bought a wheel with DCT paddles thinking the BMS kit would work but was told by them that I needed different controls if I want the steering wheel controls to work. I think the paddles will work whatever, just you won't have steering wheel controls unless you get the other controls. There are a few DIY's about this but I can't find one that fits this exact scenario. Bottom line I think is that the different controls are a requirement.

I'm not that unhappy with the ride height of my E88 and am running 255/35R18's PS4s on the back so I'm a little concerned about rubbing if I drop too much lower.

The options I'm considering are as follows:
Bilstein B8's with stock M-Sport springs for $1,200
BC Coilovers (w/springs) for $2,000
Ohlins Road & Track Coilovers (w/springs) for $3,500

My biggest concern with coilovers isn't just the initial ticket price, it's the extra installation and setup (corner weights, dialing in etc) - and the fact that I know SFA about tuning suspension.

It's a street car, driven hard, not a track car. I'm really thinking I'm best off just saving my cash and getting the off-the-shelf Bilstein's - but I don't want to be regretting not having gone coilovers in six months time.

So, I see a lot of you chiming in about shock options that aren't coilovers - do you regret not going the coilover route?

And am I right in thinking poorly dialed-in coilovers are going to handle worse than an off-the-shelf model-specific Bilstein or Koni shocks?
R&T would be overkill. What about the KW Street Comfort? That's a single adjustable coilover designed for the street. It's $1600 + free shipping at bimmrworld. There are some reviews here and on e90post if you search. Otherwise, like I said before I'm a fan of the B12

The Ohlins R&T are really a fantastic upgrade. They aren't that much more. Call Harold at HPA Shop. ;-).

$3500 is a lot more than the other kits he has listed and double the KW I suggested he look at.

Except they are listed for less on his site for the off the shelf kit. Or you can custom order the dampers and springs separately and still be way under that price.

More like $2,225.00 for the kit. Or a bit more if you want custom springs.

Well he should install his coilovers inverted then. WFT... They are $1000 more downunder? I should start smuggling suspension to AUS. Its dang near the markup of illicit contraband. :LOL

Sorry - I was also quoting AUD not USD so take 20% off my prices to get US prices. ... I was more quoting prices for the different options for comparison purposes. To compare with other off-the-shelf options, $1,000 AUD is $750USD (plus a hefty surcharge for shipping).

So for a realistic comparison, Bilstein B12's will cost me about $1,450AUD which is $1,100USD. ... compare this to ECS Tuning who have them for $837.38; and that's a realistic "Australia markup".

Kinda what you get with a small population, big distances, and a big taxing government with a very socialist welfare program.

... anyway, thanks to all the advice here (and extensive searching in the suspension section of this forum), I recon' I'll be going for Bilstein B12's (which are Bilstein B8's with Eibach 148/456 lb/in springs; up from 120/350 lb/in stock springs); and while I'm there I'll do M3 control arms, Dinan front Camber Plates & Dinan rear shock mounts [EDIT: and Whiteline RSFB Inserts].

I recon' that'll do for a road car

Nothing I'm doing absolutely nothing to it because I left work early yesterday to get new tires mounted only to be told I was given bad information and they couldn't do it so I left it there with expectations it would be done today now I get a call and their mounting machine is broken and they only got one tire mounted.
What is this world I'm in?

Sounds familiar. I booked mine into Firestone to get the TPMS taken out of my 17" run flats so they could go into the 18" rims and tires I had in the back of the car. Actually, as an E88 they were in the back, front, footwells, trunk, everywhere. I got down there and they couldn't even get it on the lift saying the car was too low. What....it has BMW PS, not lowering springs.

Took it to a local shop today. Done. For less as well although no lifetime alignment deal. Oh well.

I should have just picked it up and took it somewhere but for some reason I decided to let them finish the job. The shop filled with younger chaps around my age (28) and I'm about positive they will have taken my baby for a joy ride

Had someone measure points on a 1M bumper versus my 1M style bumper and they matched up. So I'm gonna take a chance and order a 1M specific front lip and see how it fits. Wish me luck haha

I have no idea zero experience there but I definitely thought about that like haven't I seen a number of videos with people changing a tire with as little as a pry bar, some brake kleen, and a lighter

Agreed. I’ve changed several motorcycle tires using tire spoons and it is not that easy. It is easy to bend a rim and almost certain to scuff it up. Imagine a car tire would be this x10 due to being so wide and stiff. Wait till the machine is fixed.

I have no choice but to wait lol. It's just frustrating they've had the car since Monday. Should be ready today but I'm out of town so I will get it tomorrow. 3 whole days without baby girl is devastating
