OK Auto X
So now that my 1 has some miles on it, I'm interested in possibly running it in some Auto X events. I've never done anything like it before so I'm both looking for advice on what I need to prepare(memberships, fees, equipment, car prep, etc) and wondering if there are any events where I could run my car in either Tulsa or OKC sometime in October. Does anyone have information on this? Thanks a bunch.

If you're not a member of the BMW CCA, you should join. It's cheap, at $40/year, and you access to lots of events, plus you get the fantastic publication Roundel to boot.
Once you join, make sure you specify your home chapter, which would be the Sunbelt Chapter ( http://www.sunbeltbmwcca.org/ ), and check out their calendar of events. They likely have autocrosses every month, and just checking, I see there's one next week, and another Oct 18. they run in OKC. Our chapters all have instructional programs, and you'll meet all kinds of cool people to help you out and give tips. I chair the Boston Chapter's events, and I frequently get email from people wanting to try out the sport, but are unsure of a few things. Feel free to ask here in the Racing forum for tips, but also let the autox coordinator know that you're a novice and would like an instructor to help you out. Most of all.. don't worry about winning anything, just go have fun, learn what you can (it doesn't come all at once), and the rest will come. |

Also, the SCCA has a small solo program in your state too: http://www.neoklascca.org/ They hold their events in Tulsa.

go to sunbeltbmwcca.org and you will find some info there. The bmw club has autocrosses each month. The SCCA group here in OKC is a bit bigger than in Tulsa it seems. Also, the PCA lets us run at their events, too. Lots of opportunities around here.

Thanks for all the information guys. When I get back home, I'll be sure to look into the BMW CCA and their events. They seem to have the best organization. I'm not looking to win anything, I'm just trying to find an event to let me test the capabilities of this awesome car more so than I could legally on normal roads and to improve my skills as a driver. Once again, I appreciate all the advice and information. Thanks.
