Electric Red
Based on people listing the color e90's they've ordered, Electric Red seems to be about the least popular color - but I'm leaning towards it. Can those who have gotten it respond and advise how they like it.

sorry to respond....cause I dont have electric red.....but, the reason its not that popular IS because it is one ugly color on the E90.....people may disagree...but it makes the car look cheap......most non-metallic paints do this to cars....white is an exception..and a few other colors....but "flat" electric red is about as appealing to me as a fire red mazda miata......I would not order this color unless you have seen it in person. My local dealership has one, and its been on the lot for over a month (no lie)....Sure, youll have a more "rare" color than other drivers....but thats not always a good thing...;-)

Dude, just go get what you want. Everybody has their own choice some like black, some SG. If you start listening to them then you will go nuts coz someone might say silver is nice but black is hot. Then on black you have to keep it clean. Go with your heart.

Thanks for the pic...that's the first I have seen. As long as you like the red dude that's all that matters. I think it looks damn sharp....and quite unique.

I got Monaco Blue and took a bit of crap from some of my "purist" friends who prefer more traditional colors. But it's MY CAR and I like the color and the look. |

I love the red, but getting red is somewhat of a commitment because your car is screaming "look at me!" all the time. That's fine when the looks are welcome, but cops suspect any display of exhuberance. The only time I've come close to losing my license was while owning a red car. I'm not a speed demon, but I lost 11 of 12 points the first 45 days I owned my first red car. Of course I was young, but I hadn't driven any differently in the silver car I had prior to it. I had a clean record in silver and ended up in traffic school in red.

I think the red is sporty, but I wanted more of a luxury look. I agree that it does make the car look cheaper, but get whatever color you like!

I think red is a great color for a sports coupe. I have a candy red 92 dodge stealth ES and love it!
My brother really wanted me to get the electric red 330i but I just thought I would get bored of it soon. I also agree with robertb, the car has a "look at me" feel when you get red, it happens to me all the time But if you like it, go for it man, its a BMW But I think red used to be popular color in the early days of BMW.

Get what you want. It's your money. It wouldn't be my choice of color, however I've seen it in person and it's a hot looking car. Actually I was quite surprised how good it looks. And the 18" sport wheels / chrome accents really set it off! If you like it.... go for it dude!

I don't have Electric Red either, but it's one of the few colors I've been considering mostly in contest with Titanium Silver. Here's a worthy distinction: With the silver, the white side marker ahead of the front door mostly disappears, but the tail lights really pop. (White has the same characteristics.) Conversely, the red shows the side marker detail very well; it helps to break up and animate the side of the car. The chrome bits also show better on the red. However, the tail lights are mostly subsumed, as they're close to the paint color. Note that black offers the best contrast for these exterior details.
My main complaint with Electric Red is that it's too light, too orange, too happy. It takes some aggression out of the car. I'd take Imola Red instead without hesitation. Having said that, I'm not completely decided on what color I'll be ordering. One further strike against red: it probably won't look right with Terra leather. |

I've got a red 325 on order and I really didn't see any other choice. I refuse to get any of the greys, way too common. White and black look bad in the winter (lots of salt used here) and the blue is so dark it might as well be black. BMWs are sports cars and to me they look best in bright sporty colours like red, bright blue and yellow (yes yellow). So I'm getting Electric Red, although my preference would have been the Imola Red you can get on the E46, that's a superb colour.

I have looked at all colors in person, and I like them all except the sparkling graphite. It just looked too dull to me, but you know, color is a personal choice. So, go with what you like.

I've never been a fan of red but while scouting I saw an electric red 330 with terra on the lot and all I could say was wow. Even my wife, whose not a big on red said it really looked good. I'm considering it on my purchase of my 330. Hell it even made me consider and decide on buying our Pathfinder in Red, granted it's more of a maroon, but seeing the red made me open up a little.
