Hello fellow 1 series owners.
I have an E82 and I am looking for some advice on if anyone ran spacers on OEM 18" wheels - factory sport suspension. It has 78k miles on it, may be a bit older and sag just a little bit but I'm not entirely sure. No leaking from suspension components. I was thinking of running: Front: 12mm hubcentric - 225/40/18 - firehawk indy 500 - 7.5 inch wheel - offset: +49 Rear: 10mm hubcentric - 255/35/18 - firehawk indy 500 - 8.5 inch wheel - offset: +52 Tires are brand new haven't been mounted yet. I did a couple searches on various forums, including this one, and some say rears will rub on dips and some say there's no rubbing at all. Some members have had their cars lowered also so I don't know if their results will be accurate in terms of my car. I plan on getting an alignment when I get the tires installed, will alignment shops be able to adjust suspension settings to stop rubbing? Will they be able to see if it rubs before the car is taken off the alignment machine? Ideally I wouldn't want too much adjustment, I would like for the best even tire wear and still maintain proper handling. Anyone know if I have anything to worry with this setup or should I just garbage the spacers and run it as is? Thanks ahead of time! |

I ran 12 mm in the back and 10 up front. Spacers do enhance the look so much. With Stock suspension you will have nothing to worry about. Best of lucks with your mods...

I have BMW 261 wheels mounted on cheap summers same 255/35 rears and 225/40 fronts. I am lowered on Swifts and ever since lowered, I have negative camber, the handling is way better, and I know I am wearing the insides of my tires out. But don't care with the current tires I have. Every tire will have a different amount of bulge on our rims. But again the 10mm/12mm spacers you have ordered shouldn't give you any rubbing, as you are also at stock height. Hope this helps - cheers

Hey StarThreat so I have the Indy 500s but in 215/245 size now and 10mm in the rear, 12mm in the front spacers on factory 18". As per my reply in the other thread, you will probably get some rub on dips in the rear. See my response:

I have indy firehawks 225/40 and 255/35. had them on stock msport suspension with stock style 261 wheels and now with wider apex arc-8 wheels with lowered suspension (-2 camber) no spacers & no clearance issues either set up. when i wear them out i'm going up a size again to 235/265.

Really?? This is really surprising. For stock suspension, 225/255 has a lot of room. Are you running R-comps or some tire that's ultra wide compared to others..or ones that have a very square shoulder....

225/40/18 fronts (from 215) 255/35/18 rear (from 245) so is there rub or no rub? depends on the vehicle? I'm on stock suspension with 28k miles. would i even need the spacers? i mean OP has the exact same set up as I do.. who knows if he still has the vehicle? (just minus the spacers) any input?

I'm using 18" stock rims and stock tire sizes with Turner MS 12.5mm spacers.I also have the BMW PSS so it's about 1/2" lower than Msport or about 1" lower than non-sport cars. |
