Not in the least bit. It is not a fragrance or anything like that. The smell it brings back is not overly strong, it's just that subtle new leather smell, like you drove it off the lot yesterday. Its my favorite car detail product i have ever used. Its also easy as heck to apply, unlike their wax. It also doesn't leave that greasy look or feel like many other products do. Zaino makes great products, their wax is amazing, but there are other good quailty waxes out there that are close. Their leather stuff is in a different zip code than any other brand. I'm impressed and i'd be hard-pressed to believe that anyone else wouldn't. |

With my current car (Honda Element) my favorite gear (well the car's favorite gear) my 25 gallon industrial shop-vac for the inside and outside. After a wash, turn on the shop-vac as a blower and blow off most of the water. Then use Meguiars quick detailer or wax depending on situation.

Zaino or Meguiars. I have used both, and like them alot. Zaino I use more casually, and Meguiars I use before meets and shows. For some reason I get more shine out of Meguiars.

It used to be Meguiars then I went to Zymol. I have read a lot about Zaino recently and think I am going to give that a try when I get the 1er.

Invisible Glass by Stoner with a good glass microfiber is by far the best glass cleaner i have ever used. I have a pretty good mix of waxes and cleaning products, just nowhere to use them. I really need to invest in a Porter Cable and a blower vac for drying so I can get rid of all those expensive chamois. Nate

I have been using Groit's for some time. Big black truck takes lots of care! Good stuff, not cheap. My neighbor and another friend of mine work there. Always losts of M3's sitting out front (they are across the street from the local BMW dealer too.) After we get our new black vert home I will try and hit one of their garage demo days.

(A good bit cheaper than a shop vac too:wink http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...etail&ct=29280 That guy is super cool too. He runs a detailing biz in SoCal and is a very active poster on Acurazine. The Pacific towels are fab. |

So, does anyone have an opinion (haha) on a good kit to buy as an initial investment? Something with an orbital and essentials? Or would I be better served to buy everything separately?

I use Zaino because it seems to last longer than anything else I have ever tried.

Anyone use an orbital? I hear the Porter Cable 7242 is a good choice. Saw it for $106 delivered the other day.

Nothing but Zaino here! I use it on all my rides... When I take out the buffer I use 3M stuff and Zaino.
I will detail the 1 this weekend, it'll be a real challenge to get the AW to shine! |

I use EVERYTHING Meguier. I have had an unbelievable experience with my Acura for four years. The paint still looks new!!!!! I live 20 miles north of Daytona, and it's near impossible to keep clean unless you detail yourself once a week(I live on a barrier island, walking distance to the beach). They have a website where you enter your zip code and they tell you what you need to do to keep everything right. Not saying it's better than so and so, but their products are awesome. Not sure if I'm going to undercoat and rust proof, but it was great for the Acura. Just my opinion and hope it helps......Happy Motoring!!!!!

Hey, sorry to derail the thread a bit, but on Zaino's website, Sal recommends using unscented Dawn for the initial car wash, but I cannot find unscented anywhere! I've been all over the internet, as well as four supermarkets in my area.
By "Unscented Dawn", does he mean "Original Scent"? I am so confused and I'd hate to use a product that I'm not supposed to. Also, I went to Bed Bath & Beyond as well as Linens N' Things, and I could not find any 100% cotton towels I felt comfortable using on my paint. Every single towel had some sort of fancy stripes through it, or on the ends, or it didn't feel very soft to the touch. Can someone recommend 100% soft cotton towels and where I can buy them online, specifically for car washing / drying? Thanks! |

I am going to go the microfibre route. If you go to www.autogeek.net they have some Cobra microfibre drying towels and a large selection of buffing towels. I also noticed Meguiar's has some microfibre and cotton towels on their site. www.griotsgarage.com also has some nice looking microfibre drying towels and buffing cloths for a bit more $$$. I have not used any of these products so take that into account but they all look like descent products too me! |
