No you don't. Not when you see the bill at the gas pump in euros!

I/we burned 1/2 tank of SuperPlus "testing" my 135i before and after the tune. I think we hardly drove 100kms! But at cruising speeds the car gets better fuel mileage now.

But that half Tank is worth it, if you become a personal Tune . Its allways cool to get a Software that fits 100% your Car... you dont get that at Schnitzer or Hartge or ...

I think he would get my 130i from 265 to 280PS or something... the Difference i not that big with NA Motor (thats why i sometimes wish that i got a Turbo , but the response of a NA is soooo great )

Well two pulls isn't too bad, I would say you can count me in if we get enough people to do it. I won't be able to make it if its the first week of June I will be TDY.

I have a quick question for you Dackel! You seem to spend a lot of time on the forums and I'm sure you're like me and pay extra attention to the threads that are specific to the N55, so I was wondering if you could comment on how similar the tune you have is to the one fellow member UdubBadger runs. The reason I ask is because your tune sounds like the way I want to go, especially since it could be designed for DPs and ICs (the only two power mods I plan on making aside from a tune). The problem is I really don't want to send my ECU all the way across the Atlantic and have my car down for weeks.

I can't wait to hear about the other mods you perform on your car because it seems like we are very like-minded when it comes to modding our cars (we both care about the longevity of our engines and maintaining the essence BMW put in our wonderful cars).

UdubBadger, feel free to comment as well if you run across this thread, I'd love to hear your input as well!

When I was looking around for a tune I wanted something that 1), would not blow up my engine and 2), had all the safety features of the BMW's software, ie smooth power delivery and no SES lights or limp codes thrown. I also wanted a tune that would get rid of my V-max limiter - safely.

I narrowed my search to: MS Tuning, DigiTech, and TechTec. Like I said in my thread here... the other companies just blew off my questions... and Marcel (MS Tuning) was really happy to answer ALL of my quetions and worries. It also helps that sooo many guys over at the 1er forum have been very happy with his tuning service. That to me was very telling. When I met Marcel he had told me he has tuned over 130+ 135is and about 200, 125i's. There is a reason why so many people beat a path to his door. He really knows what he is doing with these black boxes.

As for what else I have plans for... humm... well.. I really want to improve the stock suspension (a slight drop) with M3(1M) bits (shocks & springs, control arms, rear subframe bushings, and end links, ect) and maybe an LSD if I can find one for a decent price.

I think IF I was living in the USA I would be looking real hard at Giac or Cobb's tunes. Cobb is a neat system, but they only have a stage I tune at the moment. I think Giac is a pretty good flash tune that offers Stage I & II tunes and even a race tune. I believe Giac is also the only company that has a flashtune that can run over 16+ psi boost safely.

Thanks for the high priase. I am happy to asnwer any Q's 1addicts might have.

Great post with useful info as usual, Dackel. Congrats on the MS tune. I'm thinking about the Cobb. In the meantime though, I'm interested in those Wagner parts - the FMIC and the DPs. How could I get more info on them? .

Seems like an awesome tune, smooth all the way through the powerband. Only question i have is do you still go to the dealer? If so what happens when you go in you remove the flash or your warranty is already voided?

[QUOTE=Dackelone;9557820]The tune is meant to run on 98 octane SuperPlus fuel but you can limp around on lower grade fuel IF need be and IF you do not plant your foot on the loud pedal.

He runs another data log… and checks all the various values to make sure everything is in working order. The most important thing is the EGT (exhaust gas temp) and oil and water temps. I think the highest EGT we saw was 690’ C.

Those 2 are directly related, and that low EGT indicates you have a very safe and reliable tune. This guy seems like he knows what he is doing.

I was also not aware the n series motor had a built in EGT gauge, thats pretty pro.

Why are you in germany, the military? If your German, your english is excellent! HECK, if your american your english is great, lol!

I am an American, living and working over here for the Military. English is my first language.

I just wanted to update everyone. I have been running Marcel's flash tune for several months now and almost 12K kms. No troubles to date. No hickups or stumbles or engine check lights. His tune just flat out works. Smooth idle when cold or hot, and plenty of power when you need it. Fuel miliage is actually slightly better when your not getting on the gas pedal (WOT). So far the highest speed I have seen is 275 kph on my TomTom. I know twice I have gone slightly faster but I was too busy driving to look at my M3 speedo or TomTom! lol

Fuck...I cant imagine going 160mph in this car tbh. I think the highest ive driven thus far in my 1er has been 115ish mph and even that felt a good bit scary. Perhaps its cuz the roads in the US are not MEANT to handle anything much above 80-90 typically and the autobahn is...all I know is Id never take this baby above 120mph without my wider summer wheels/tires and upgraded M3 suspension to alleviate the sloppy feeling at higher speeds.

Only just read this post. Very interesting and what a monster the 135i can be. Interested to see BMW changed from Mahle pistons, I have used them for years in classic cars but sometimes they can't supply them for no reason! I guess BMW changed them for cost but who knows!

Yes, I have taken my car in for service since the flash. No problems so far. I think that is also what you are paying for in a tune... that the tuner knows enough when they write the new code, so that BMW doesn't know whats going on.

And yes, anything over 110mph in this car is a little scarry. I used to think 155mph was scarry... now its 174mph -ish that gets my blood going!

Marcel tunes all kinds of cars: BMW's, Audis, MB's, Lambo's, ect... He is really passionate about BMW's though. Plus Marcel owns a 335i. Here is how you can contact him. He is just South of Stuttgart less than a three hour drive from Graf.
