Hey guys!

Proud owner of a 2009 135i 37k miles/4 years and getting ready to go in for my last warranty service. I've had the HPFP replaced (as well as injectors) and will be getting the battery cable recall serviced as well.

First question to you all, what else should I have them look at/service while it's still under warranty?

Second, it seems most people on these forums believe that BMW isn't servicing fluids and a couple other items as frequently as the health of the vehicle demands. I saw the maintenance schedule thread but is there anything I should try and get them to do now?

Lastly, extended warranties/maintenance service worth it?

Thanks all in advance!

"Lastly, extended warranties/maintenance service worth it?" a big NO!

I purchased the extended maintenance and should not have. Would have been more cost effective to just pay for the services as they come.

Roger that, no extended anything . I'm buying a house anyway, so I should actually have the room to work on my car again.

Any other advice?

This may be a bit off topic but does the BMW Free Maintenance Program extend to the second owner of the car as long is it under 5years/50k miles? For example if were to purchase a used 2012 with 22k miles from a private party would my oil changes still be free as the second owner of the car automatically?

BMW exteneded maintenance is transferable to the next owner. Not sure if you need the paper work that shows the purchase. I would imagine it would be in a dealers computer searchable by vin number. Mine was exteneded for 6 years or 100k miles which ever comes first. For me that means 7/15/14 or 100k. I'm at 65k now and won't reach 100k by that date.

Yes, but it is for the first 4 years or 50,000 miles from the original in-service date, whichever comes first.

Extended maintenance? Don't bother - it's probably going to come out about the same either way since it's fixed and predictable.

Extended warranty? Now that's personal preference, which needs to factor in how trusting you are of the car, how long you want it, and how willing you are to DIY if things break. I haven't decided on extended warranty yet, but from what I gather I still have time (up to 45k miles before the cutoff).

If you do extended warranty, make sure you get the BMW FACTORY extended warranty, not through the dealer, not through a 3rd party. More info here. Prices you'll have to google - plenty of threads on that.
