New starter and still no start

Replaced starter with a new unit and still no start. Went through all scenarios checked battery voltage recently replaced and checked ground wire positive wire at jumper location no error codes and settled on replacing starter... Replaced starter and still nothing. No crank just click and hum like before replacing starter. Lucky it died in the garage. Any input ideas appreciated. n51 with 130k miles

When you say you checked the positive wire at the jumpstart post, did you cut back the heatshrink and wiggle the cable?

Has your car had the positive battery cable to junction box recall done yet?

Sometimes a "new part" does not mean it's a "good part"!

Where did you buy the part? Was it rebuilt ? I bet it was...


Did you measure the voltage AND ground @ the starter. Anywhere else does not count.

Starter is a new tyc sourced from Amazon. The positive cable was on tight I tried to pull it off but didn't budge unscrewed the 13 mm bolt to examine cable looked good I'll cut back the sheath just to make sure

I'll measure voltage at starter...where is the positive wire at junction box and how can I check

Voltage at starter is 12.5. All fuses look good disconnected the ibs as well. The only other thing that I can think of checking is the trigger wire that attaches to the starter. I don't think it's junction box since I get power to all accessories any other ideas I'll prolly drop off my old starter to autozone and test

Check to see if you can spin the engine by hand. Get a socket on the front crank pulley and see if it turns.

Since old starter was out Went to autozone to test it and it tested out OK leads me to believe new starter is good voltages check out at alternator as well... I think it's not getting the trigger signal for some reason new clutch pedal switch as well...

When I got a spun crank bearing we were able to determine it by this method. Try this just to ensure you are going down the correct route. If it doesn't turn freely there is likely another problem

Was able to determine or guess that the starter wasn't getting signal... Not sure of the cause... coded out starter safety checks and starts every time now.... Must be a sensor somewhere getting hung up... Just glad I'm mobile again

possibly a bad key fob or dead battery in key fob

Check the ground near drivers side engine mount?
Check the power cable from the junction point on the passenger side near the firewall?
