COBB AccessPORT for the 2011 BMW 135, 335i and 335xi

COBB is extremely happy to announce the release of the AccessPORT for the N55 powered 2011 BMW 135, 335i and 335xi. We have been cranking extremely hard to get this out – with our best engineers working on making this a terrific product.

This is a Beta release – which means that although the support and tuning are 100% complete and, frankly, awesome – we don’t support every single ROM on the road right now. As most of you know (but your friends might not), a ROM is an individual calibration file that makes small tweaks to the Engine Control Unit from the factory. Usually these changes are small and completely imperceptible to the consumer – however, we always want to support the latest the OEM has to offer so that all of the safety and reliability that BMW engineers into its vehicles stay there. It takes more work to do it this way – but we think it's best for you and your car.

As such, during this Beta release of the AccessPORT, it is expected that several customers will need to send in the ROM data collected by the AccessPORT before the installation can be completed. Typically, new ROM support can be added in only 3-5 business days and is as simple as emailing your ROM information, and then completing an AccessPORT update on your home computer. As we collect more ROMs, the chance of having an unsupported ECU software revision goes down significantly and the sooner you can enjoy the added power!

The AP-BMW-002 will come pre-loaded with Stage 1 Sport and Stage 1 Aggressive power maps, as well as a Stage 0 map and Valet mode for reduced power when needed. Using the Aggressive map, you can expect an 11% increase in peak HP and a 25% increase in peak torque. The area under the curved is also massively increased with maximum power gains near 18% in HP and 26% in torque. Stay tuned for more maps (Stage 1+COBB FMIC) and updates coming soon as N55 development continues! Click the link below for more information and to get yours now!

Man, I can't wait. Ordered mine yesterday as a Christmas present to myself and it should be here tomorrow. I've used AP's on my STi's and my Mini Cooper and I can say that you guys never disappoint.

Serious question: is there any difference between AP-BMW-001 and AP-BMW-002?

So, those of us with an N54 are likely to change to an N55 sometime in the future seeing as that is the engine BMW have chosen to take forward (if we want a new BMW someday). A lot of people have N54 Access Ports, could N55 maps be loaded onto these APs and used on N55 cars?

For now, it is only MY2012. There is a new ECU that went in mid 2011 build dates that we need to get a hold of. If anyone in the Austin area wants to stop in for a few mins, that would be extremely helpful.

No Sir. We are unable to fit all the N54 and N55 support into one AP or we would have for ease. I did try to get it all in one.

AP-BMW-001 = N54
AP-BMW-002 = N55

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Rob.

Will there be any trade-in for the N54 AP or is it a case of selling it on the forums and buying an AP-002 at list price?

As of current we don't have a trade in program. It would be a case of selling the N54 AP and purchasing a N55 AP.

Cheers,
Rob

Rob the website lists only USDM will this be ok for 2011 UK/Euro 135i, also if our 2011 cars have any software updates does this throw a spanner in the works.

Rob,

This will remove the speed limiter on both non-sport and sport models correct? This will be my main reason for purchasing, as I plan on running this in conjunction with my Jb4, to keep my meth integration.

Hey Ian,

We usually release to the USDM market first, then open it up. I don't expect more than month or two before opening it up to the world.

Cheers,
Rob

We have not tested the speed limiters yet as our dyno only goes to 140mph. That and we're chicken.

I would be happy to send you a map to test before we include the changes in all the mapping.

Cheers,
Rob

Posted this message on the 335i N55 board last night:

I installed the AP tonight in my parking garage at work. The install went smooth and as represented. It took about 20 minutes. I put about 15 miles on the car with the agressive map slected, I didnt bother with the sport map.

The tune is very smooth with good top end power - the car pulls hard. The DCT was shifting at about 6500 which seems earlier than it shifted with the PPK. With the PPk I felt that I got better perfomance if I shifted manually earlier than when the DCT shifted in auto. But with the cob it seems like it shifts at the right time and a few hundred RPM earlier than before.

The throttle seems less linear than the PPk - so it makes a seat of the pants review more difficult since an aggressive throttle always seems like its making more power.

Taking that into account the difference in power between the Cobb and the PPK is at least the same or a little greater than the difference between the stock car and the PPK. Said another way, the PPK takes you about half way or a little less to the Cobb tune. It makes the car feel pretty quick, lots of tq., The exhaust is even more aggessive sounding than the PPk with a fair amount of burble and snap, keeping in mind that I have the PE. Sounds really good and aggessive but not over the top to my ears

Overall its a very nice smooth tune - I am very happy I got it. I dont have any experience with the JB or Proceed products so cant comment on any comparison with them. But its a good quality product. Cant wait to drive it some more tomorrow

Drove it again this morning and looged a peak of 17.2 lbs boost on a couple of wide open throttle runs from about 5 mph. Car has some yank now.

I really love this tune. big improvement over the PPK - would be amazing change from stock.

I am sure we will need to add support for some of y'all. If anyone runs into a situation where the AP does not recognize your ROM revision, please follow the instructions in the link below:

I have a 2011 BMW 135i N55 with PPK, Australian Version.

Does you release work on Australian model 135i and can you write over PPK?? When deleting does it delete PPK or leave it??

rob is it ok to order this to the uk and then wait for the euro maps to be released as it can take some time to clear customs if you are unlucky. (like me)
