Way too much dust

Hi
I'm 7 days in with a 2nd hand BMW 135i N55 with no mods. Running stock Discs and Pads.

Detailed the car on Saturday and by today the wheels are a mess, dust everywhere.

Looking to seek advice from the forum on replacement brake pads. My car will be a daily driver and don't intent to do any track days. Just some spirited driving when I can.

Looking to achieve superior brake performance whilst cutting down on the dust.

Thoughts.

P.S Vince's build thread is awesome, its like a wiki for performance enhancements

Totally agree, one of the first things I wanted to do was replace the brake pads with Akebono ceramic pads as I'd used them previously and were really good. But they don't make it for 135i application. I'll try some of the suggestions in this thread when the time comes.

There are several great daily driver pads that will perform well and be all but dust free.

I've been really happy with EBC Red's lack of dust and great pedal feel and initial bite.

Cool Carbons; at a recent track day, I had very little dust whereas the people with OE pads had a lot of dust.

Thanks for the advice, read some reviews as well and they seem to be on the money, very expensive locally so purchased from ECS Tuning in the states.

Picked up a 12 volt compressor, valve stem tool, tyre gauge and Tyre Slime from SuperCheap for the run flats for emergency situations.

Dust is ridiculous but pads are cheaper than rotors.
The harder the pad, the heavier the wear.

I ceramic coated the wheels so the dust doesn't stick as much

Nope. $4 eBay special. This stuff is legit great!
I have used it on 3 of my cars now, and 2 of them were parked outside 24/7 in the open so needed some quality protection.
Ignore the haters; it really works.

I had a tiny bit left so decided to use it on the rims too.

Armour All makes a great product that really cuts down on brake dust. For me after just 60 to 100 miles of driving my wheels are pretty much covered. After applying Armour All to my alloys... I would have to drive about 600 miles to get to the same dust level/coating. Just be careful when applying it... try not to spray it on your brake rotors... You can notice diminished braking for the first few miles after applying this stuff. But it works awesome in cutting down brake dust.
