idrive retrofit questions
hey all!
I think i have read almost every thread about doing the non Idrive to CIC install and have a good grasp on what needs to be done. The only thing i am hung up on is where the screen gets power from. I have seen a lot of used screens with the power cable cut and others with a white plug with 4 pins but i never see where that connects I have also checked the wiring harness diagram site which shows it hardwired to a plug behind the glovebox. Im not certain which one is correct. Is there a harness to simply connect to or does it need to be added to a plug? Neither is a problem, i just want it to be as OE as possible. any help is appreciated |

Having taken apart my iDrive screen on my CIC system, there are two connectors. One if for video and the other as you've mentioned is a white connector with I think 4 wires coming from it as you've mentioned. The harness to my knowledge provides power and connectivity to the CANBUS.
When I installed the Bimmertech backup camera retrofit, I had to put a splitter on this white connector. |

If you're asking where the white harness which plugs into the screen goes in the car, I don't know. The install didn't require me to trace out the cable.
