Bottom line...nobody likes change, and people need to drive a DCT car before bad mouthing it. From what I have read on other boards, those that have it love it.

We have a DCT in the Z4 35i and we do love it. I am in no way bashing MTs as they are very fun to drive - no debate at all. In fact, I am a control freak and love throwing the gates, all the pedals, etc. Just go drive the new DCT, and even though you may still choose the MT, I think many of you will really like the DCT.

Boosted cars drop bost between shifts so unless you shift perfect everytime dct is the way to go. More consistant,on an NA car differance is not as important.

This ^^^^^^^

check out the 1/4 mile times on the new 911 turbo 997.2 w/pdk... it's substantially faster than the manual... 11.0@128 stock. However, a skilled manual driver could probably drive it just as fast on a track.... walter rohrl said he could drive the manual round the Ring just as fast as pdk. Dual clutch is definately faster for us non pros though round a track.

Manual people just like shifting! I'm too lazy on a daily driver.

I have no doubt that the DCT, or heck even the Trip is faster than shifting in a manual for most of us, however, a manual gearbox is not about just shifting, it's about the control and experience that comes with a manual tranny. Besides, I despise the steering wheel gear shift flippers. I've only owned one auto, and it was a '68 Plymouth Fury Hemi 426 purchased used in 1970 (I'm not sure they came with anything other than an auto).

I think people who are used to an auto will instantly like the DCT, although it's slightly different from my limited experience. For those of use who still want a manual, I hope that option remains for some time.
