It might be official: The 2007 Model Year Calender (328, 335, no turbo)
According to the ending posts in this thread:
SpeedFreak ...it is indeed true that: - the 325 will be replaced with a 235 hp 328 (probably with direct injection) and - the 330 will be replaced by a 335 : a 3.5 liter 310+hp normally aspirated variant of the 3.0 liter, probably also w/direct injection. - No turbos. Thoughts anyone? Please discuss. Last edited by RichReg; 12-01-2005 at 01:28 PM.. |

Well, if it is true, this is the greatest news of my life a 3.5l i-6 has been my dream for over 10 years now, please oh please I hope that is actually true and we get that instead of a turbo...
I do find it strange that BMW would get rid of the current 255hp 3.0l tho ? Thats the only part of this that makes me a bit suspect.. But we shall see ! |

It is never ending story, like with computers: newer, faster, bla-bla-bla...
I'm happy with my current ride. End of story.

Thy're not getting rid of it....they'll probably just use it in the new 328, with the 3 Stage intake. Come to think of it, its most likely that only the 335 engine will have direct injection.

The new direct-injection engines will be availabe next year, introduced in the E92 models and after that gradually in all 3-series petrol models. This is the info I've been reading from various german magazines lately. This is obviously for the european models.
I doubt they will increase the power, maybe a little. The key point of this new technology is the lower fuel consumption. |

Guys, you don't get it.
There is a 3.5 liter variant of the 3.0 liter engine. It WILL debut in the E92 first...then in the E90 next September. I wouldn't doubt if this engine was created solely for the U.S. market...something that seems to be happening more & more often these days. Its clear to me now that whatever was going on with turbos was in a diesel model. |

I've read the whole 5 page thread. It seems most of the information is not supported by any sources... at least not ones supplied to anyone in the thread. It sounds like there is rumor creating rumor in this thread. Some of it seems plausible but with no supplied sources it's no better than rumor. And the best rumors are ones that are plausible even though they may not be based in any fact.
I hope some of what was written is true but I can't put much stock in the info after reading the whole thread. By the way "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who"* says the new hardtop convertible will have a sunroof! I just thought I would start my own plausible rumor that is not based in any fact with no sources identified. * Quote from Ferris Bueller's Day Off |

I'll be pissed if I'm getting a 330i in the very last year they are making one and a new 335i is around the corner. I'd guess that the base $$ bump will not be all that much. I would have been able to get the 335 for the same money as what I paid for my 330, minus an option or two. Oh well, I guess that's why it's only a three-year lease.

Who knows if a turbo would be put into a 3. If it did who knows if it would make it to the US. I guess we'll only know in many months when real information is released at auto shows. |

I'm really not going to believe until BMW releases something official. There are way too many rumors out in the net..

I will bet you that if you walked into your dealership & asked to talk to the sales manager, he would show it to you. Open Road BMW's sales manager showed it to me quite a few times. Of course, since I bought my 330 somewhere else, fat chance of that happening for me anytime soon.
