Why did you wave at the person behind you?

To humour myself. Like, "cya buddy, I'm gone. "

Decided to Plasti-Dip my stock M sport wheels. Hit them with flat black then a few coats of clear gloss to create a satin finish. Quite happy with the results. I may patch up some of the curb rash and paint them with real spray or get them powder coated down the road...

I think it looks better. BTW, nice shine on the paint.

Finished the wiring for my second pair of HID retrofit headlights.
Neighbour stopped his walk to come up to my window and tell me I have a nice car!

Changed the oil for the first time since acquiring this car...

quick thoughts:

- The oil I drained out was completely black, had that "spent" odor to it
- The in dash electronic oil level indicator indicates MAX level, even though I only added 6L.
- I love the placement of the oil filter, makes so much sense!
- No dip stick?! Seriously... No dip stick?
- I removed the jack stands and lowered the car after removing the drain plug. This allowed for significantly more oil to drain out vs leaving the front jacked up.
- My TPMS warning light came on immediately after the oil change. I checked tire pressure in all tires manually using my pressure gauge and it was correct. I reset the TPMS warning and it came back immediately, I haven't driven the car yet to see if this goes away... sigh

That's normal.

So how many quarts actually drained out?

When I change my oil, I use a turkey baster to get all the oil out of the filter housing as well.

I'm not sure how many quarts drained out - the old oil is still in the catch pan (shame on me). Good call with the turkey baster - I saw some remaining oil in the filter housing but left it alone... I'll keep a baster on stand-by for my next oil change tho!

What I meant in my previous post was, after the majority of the oil drained out, I lowered the car and saw more oil come out - it took quite a while for the oil to stop dripping out and it made me think, how many dealerships or lube type places actually wait this long to get all of the old oil out?

I would think they don't wait too long.

Of course, the engine's probably fully warmed up, so the oil drains out pretty quickly.

Powder coated my wheels!

Also shined up the aluminum rotor hat, and hit the rear one with some fresh silver:

Purchased an original 2009 1 series sales brochure.

no mention of M Sport option - just a "Sport" option. Wonder why?

Hardwired my V1. This was the 4th car I've hardwired a radar detector into and it definitely took the longest and was the most frustrating. I made the mistake of initially trying to tap a wire coming off the mirror - total waste of time.

Ended up dropping the glovebox down and using a quick and easy fuse tap. I then ran the phone cord up the A pillar tucked under the weather stripping then through the headliner. I'm so glad it's over. I love having my V1 turn on with the ignition.

Blacklines came in the mail today. Schiedmann got it to my door in 3 business days after placing my order.
Can't wait to install them this weekend!

How many cans of plastidip did you go through and where would you buy the gloss? is it just any spray can of gloss or is it specific gloss for plastidip?

^haha I've seen it on a Lemans blue before and liked it so i'll try it out. Worse case scenario is that I peel it off when I'm done because I don't like it
