Wheel size, US regulations
Hi guys.
So I have imported a 135i from Texas to Norway. This 135i came with 18" wheels in front and 19" in the back. So as this car being a US model, it follows US law as well. Does anyone know if having different wheel size is against US regulations or not? |

As far as I'm aware, there is no regulation on wheel size. Plenty of vehicles come from the factory with different wheels front/back. The Dodge Viper comes to mind as an example.

Odd, but no. Probably just had some wheels slapped on for quick sale

As others have stated, don't think there is such a regulation. It's not a common thing, and it does seem like the previous owner either had this done to their personal taste or something was wrong with 2 wheels and they slapped on whatever they could find....

Someone got tired or the 19s rubbing in the front! In the US people do all kinds of random stuff, for example I used to know some guys in car clubs in San Diego that would run different wheels on each corner all the same size and brand with the same tires. The rarer and more expensive the wheels the harder the car looked or well that was what they were going for. Glad I never took part in those shenanigans!

There aren't any laws that I know of that regulate the wheel diameter of road cars, so you'll probably have a hard time finding anything that specifically says it is legal. There is also nothing saying it is illegal, and as other posters have mentioned there are some cars that come with staggered diameter wheels from the factory. The Chevrolet Corvette is another example and the C6 model (2005-2013) has 18" front and 19" rear wheels like your car.
