I am considering an M2C or a Mustang GT.
I looked at a GT350, but this needs to be daily driver capable and that car is just a bit over-the-top for DD duty. I am considering the mustang purely for the sound and feel of the big V8. It is intoxicating. And it would be nice to get one before gas becomes so prohibitively expensive or they are no longer produced due to ever0tightening emissions. There is no aftermarket exhaust you can put on an M2C that would make it sound as good. Plus, even well-equipped, it is $10k cheaper than an M2C. I need to test drive the mustang, because I fear it may feel way too big. There really aren't any other interesting option out there because MT is non-negotiable, which rules out Audi, Merc, and pretty much all of the other premium brands.

It's been raining like hell for the last two weeks so my Mustang has been staying in the garage. I finally took it out for the first time in 3 weeks or so and drove it aggressively. MEIN GOTT! It drives like a fat wallowing pig. After driving my 128i for 3 solid weeks I had forgotten just how sloppy the Mustang feels. The Mustang sounds like a V8 thunderbolt shot down from Mt Olympus, goes like hell in a straight line, and looks fabulous, but wow the driving dynamics are abysmal!

When someone say getting an automatic mustang is heresy, that means they like the Mustang. No conflict there.

The mustang is great for what it is. It lacks the refinement of the BMW by a large margin, but for a loud, brash, American muscle car, it excels. And at 460 HP! But it should never be an automatic, IMHO. THAT is heresy.

Agree! Paddle shifters on a Mustang GT is all kinds of wrong. That car is made for a manual transmission!

I would like to keep my 135, but it is starting to have more and more issues that make me question its continued reliability for DD purposes, so I am starting to look again.
I'm not in a big hurry though. Like I said, the only new cars on my radar on the market right now are a Mustang GT and the M2C. I can't (or won't) look at anything over $60k, and really over $50k is pushing it (that option would have to be reserved for a special car). 6MT is a must though, as is a decent amount of HP and performance.

I've considered selling the mustang for something else, but there's not a lot that can replace it for my needs in an autox car. That said, I'm still on the fence about selling it. If it wasn't the for the fact this is the bullitt version of the mustang, it would have been long gone... |

2009 Bullitt with the 3.73 live rear. I don't want to get rid of it, but every time I drive it after driving the BMW for a while I realize how awfully it drives. I've driven the newer V8s and EcoBoosts and while they are "tighter," they still feel large. Almost nothing sounds better than the Bullitt with the FR500 exhaust on it though. It's not fun to drive on a narrow winding road, but it's fun in other ways.

I had an '06 Mustang GT 5-speed with 475 supercharged ponies and a Magnaflow catback exhaust. Sounded great and was fast! Mine was Tungsten Grey. Sadly, no pics.

Of the ones I am considering is the new one coming out around January. 480 Naturally aspirated HP with the new active valved exhaust from the GT350. The only downside is that those will probably go at or near (or above) MSRP, where you can get a regular GT discounted pretty well. Then again, the Bullitt will hold its value far better, being a special edition. Again, my biggest concern is it feeling big. After 6 years in my 135, an M4 feels big, and it doesn't have the huge bonnet that the mustang does. On the plus side, sitting in one yesterday, the outward visibility to the rear and blind spots is really quite good for any kind of sports/muscle car. But it's a whole foot longer than an M2C.

I test drove a GT and SS back to back, both 6MT. I am a Mustang guy. I love how both look with the Camaro edging out, but I came to the conclusion that I like the drive of the Mustang better and that you have to be certified ****ed in the head to own an SS. That car will kill you!

Yes, almost the same as what thunderguts posted. Sadly I can't run the stock wheels any more because of the upgraded front brakes to the brembos. Just about to turn 100k miles on that car. It's been very good to me so far...

haven't even test drove one, but the camaro v6 1le because:
-manual -naturally aspirated -limited slip -front camber adjustable, without buying camber plates -addition coolers -nice exhaust -around ~$30k -faster
