Very interested to hear comments/answers on this. I've been dealing with the same issue on and off for a few years now.

My theory is a bad sensor (or just generally an electronics issue), but from what I hear/understand, that sensor is built into the mechatronics, which are still stupid expensive.

how on earth have you been dealing with it for years? any weird workarounds you've found to keep it going? its honestly a show stopper for me at this point... seems to only happen when the box/car has warmed up but i watched it jump from 90* to 158* and basically trigger back to back trans temps alerts/limp mode until i must have hit some rougher road and it dropped straight back to 95*....
It's been ridiculously intermittent for me. Can go half a year without it coming up, or then it'll do it and not want to go away one day, and then randomly a couple of days in the next couple of weeks, then it goes away for a while.

Every time it does come up though I start looking for what other car I can buy lol, it's that triggering and ruins the enjoyment/experience of the car so much.

It would be so much better if there was a way to get a parts breakdown for the DCT and order them individually when needed.
