Thank you for sharing! The next time you have a chance can you let us know the exact make/model of your tires so we can look them up?

Their traction in snow was great. Their traction in ice was AMAZING! I would be driving around Whister watching cars slide past stop signs or have trouble going (most would have snow tires on up there) but the G35 would stop and go with no ABS or traction control intervention. The tires performance in the rain was great and in the dry was also good. Treadwear was a problem. In comparision, the "high performance Blizzak winter tires" I have on my 135 are good in the snow and rain and fine in the dry. Treadwear is not a problem. I used them last winter and my rears had maybe 10% more wear then the fronts. Compared to the softer Blizzaks, I'd say my snow traction was vertually as good but they were not as good in pure ice. I used them in a few light snowfalls but also in a few really heavy snowfalls last year. I made it out of my place in Whistler after 30cm of fresh snow no problem and all the way back down the famous Sea-to-sky highway in that same heavy snow no problems. The only place I found they fall short of the softer Blizzaks (such as a WS60) was in the ice. Those soft Blizzaks did miracles on ice.

Kal Tire) and can't give you a strait answer on anything. To boot they are all way over priced. Go to tirerack.com and you can see a multitude of tires and wheels for your car and reviews from others as well. On top of that you can talk to Gil Gilmer who owns a 1 series and is a sales rep for them. Everything in the process was flawless, I got them all in one piece no prob, and just have to bolt em on come the snow. Here are some pics. Overall anyone looking for winter's the tirerack is the way to go imop.
Did the wheels come from tirerack too? They have the BMW emblem?
Did you have to order that special?

Look back at previous post in this series. Wheels came from tirerack too sport a7's. The bmw emblem is $9 a piece they just put them in for you if you ask. The sport center caps came in a box.

Blizzaks

Dalrx, thanks for blazing the trail for me. I followed suit after trading e-mails with Gill at Tirerack.com - I ordered the 205/55R-16 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60, the 16 inch sport edition a7 wheels and the BMW center caps.

I should get the stuff next week.

Given what BMW charges for their winter wheel packages, I'm really happy.

I have the LM-25 Blizzaks on m,y 135. The old pair on my wifes G35 ...I don't know which model. I got them about 7 years ago and sold them with that car. I remember their big claim to faim was the ability to "grip" the ice. They sure did work well...just had poor tread life.

Here is a great video at tirerack on winter tires vs summer and they compare the ws60 on a bmw coupe. As matter of fact all their test videos on tires seem to be on bmw's which is great imop!

Success!

Tires, Rims and BMW caps arrived from Tirerack yesterday. All I had to do was pop out the generic caps and snap in the BMW ones. They look awesome. I was a bit sceptical of ordering tires from the US using Tirerack. I've had nothing but hassles ordering stuff as basic as a US made t-shirt from the US - crazy brokerage fees, etc. However, I had absolutely no problem with Tirerack. I think I saved a ton of dough using them! Definitely get in touch with Gill via e-mail to place your order (see the main "Tire Thread" for contact info and details) - he was very helpful. BTW, the BMW caps are only available if you speak to a sales rep - they aren't on the web page.

Personally, I'm not too picky on what the rim actually looks like. I'm more concerned with price.
