Comfy e82 suspension?
Hi folks.
My only major disappointment with my 2010 BMW 118d is the firm ride quality. It's an M Sport (on original 17in wheels) so I'm not expecting it to be as cushy as the Range Rover L322 that I was driving before it. But I would like it to be a bit more civilised on my sh!tty A47 commute... mainly for the benefit of my dog who rides in the back. So can anyone please advise on the most comfortable suspension setups suitable for 1-series M Sports that are available in the UK? I'm aware that changing away from runflats is a big help (already done) and that old bushes get hard etc. I'm looking for advice regarding replacement dampers or coils, or potentially coilovers. And I don't really want to muck with the current ride height. Obviously if comfort was a priority I shouldn't have bought an M Sport... but I fell in love with this particular example, and so far it's given me an enjoyable, reliable and efficient 6k miles, so I'm happy with my choice. |

I have this gripe as well with mine, love it, efficient.
I have a 'Sport Plus' but it has M sport suspension and hitting potholes recently feels like the vehicle is going to break into pieces. I had an F30 previously on SE suspension but that was wayyy too floaty but still harsh. A suspension company previously said to me that E-series are always notoriously harsh. But my friends E82 on SE suspension is very nice to ride passenger. I wonder if you could just change to SE suspension? Change bump stops & springs, maybe get ur bushes done as well. Regardless its not a cheap job. |
