It only lasts like 90 sec to 2 min, I timed it once but I can't remember which. Just ignore it, or by a seatbelt latch to buckle into it.
Or (and you knew you were going to hear this) Buckle your seatbelt!! Jesse |

It only comes on after you put it into gear and start driving. The only time I hear it is when a passanger forgets to put it on or doesn't usually wear one. In that case I politely remind them to buckle up. Or if it's my kids, not so politely.

For everyone who complains that they don't need BMW telling them to put on their seatbelt- apparently you do otherwise the sound wouldn't come on. Also, it wouldn't be annoying unless you are doing something wrong.

the distance in time from my apartment to my apartment office is 2 minutes. do i need to wear my seatbelt to go those 2 minutes. definitely not. do i need to listen to that sound literally the whole time there. definitely not. the distance from my work to the sushi place is 3 minutes of backroads. do i need to wear my seatbelt to go 30 mph on backroads. no. do i need to hear that sound almost the hole way there ,turn my car off, and then hear it the whole way back. definitely not. if imi gonna take a 4 hour road trip. the first 2 minutes of that sound in relation to the whole 4 hour trip is nothing its like .01% of the trip. but those are the exact times im gonna wear my seatbelt. so the whole thing is kinda silly. im glad that when i was a kid i had my mother tell me to wear my seatbelt EVERYTIME i got in the car, but at 21 years old, i dont need it.

because we all know you can't get in a massive accident if you only drive 2 minutes,
no one ever gets in accidents at backroads, plus if you're only going 30 no accident could ever be very serious you choosing to not wear your seatbelt is just that, YOUR CHOICE have a good time and I hope you don't get into an accident when you're unbuckled |

that's absurd...no one can get in an accident on the backroads? Riiiiight. The statistics say the most common time getting into an accident is within 5 minutes of leaving home. An the backroad thing? A student was killed on the backroads around me doing approximately that same speed; and need I remind you that hittin a car coming the same direction would be like hitting a wall driving 60mph...and that's if you're both doing the speed limit. You can seriously hurt yourself running full speed into a tree, or skiing into a tree (as tons of broken legs/backs have shown), and that's not even close to 30mph. Not to lecture, but when your guard is down is the exact time you'll actually need the seatbelt.

Just insert a giant popsicle stick into it....
then the problem will go away.

I have to correct you on this one. You are correct that the closing speed will be 60mph, however it will still be like hitting a wall at 30pmh. The reason is that their momental force (the thing that kills you in a crash) travels in a direction (or vector). When you hit someone coming the other way, their momentum continues to travel forwards into your car at 30mph, and yours continues to travel forwards into theirs at 30mph. Hence it is like hitting a wall at 30mph. A wall is a fixed object and has no current momentum (well it technically has a momentum, but of zero), what gets you there is that the wall is fixed and your car continues to try and travel forward thereby compressing it (and you) into the wall.
